I watch her in awe. This brave woman. She is a fighter. Her heart is pure and beautiful, and she loves Syd.

“It should be you,” I agree. “But she’s in Canada. I was going to fly out to her.”

“I’ll go.”

“How will I ever repay all your kindness?” I ask.

“You don’t have to, Connor. I love Syd. This is for her,” she says.

“I’ll book the plane ticket.”

“I should fly out by Sunday. We are getting married on Thursday,” she reminds.

“I know. How was your visit with Nana today? I had meant to ask you, but then you were shaking that cute butt of yours in the kitchen and all rational thoughts left me,” I confess.

She smiles and it’s warm and real, and I am so in love with this woman.

“Good to know my ass has that kind of effect on you,” she preens. “I basically planned our entire wedding in an hour. Nana got a wedding planner on the phone. She asked me my vision and color scheme, and I came up with it all. I hope that’s okay. Did you want input?”

“Funny, you ask now after it’s already done?” I joke.

She grins and nods.

“Whatever you want I am sure will be perfect. Don’t forget I have a little girl. Syd has been planning her wedding for the past two years,” I laugh.

“Who does she marry?” Ellie asks and we both answer together, “Crew.”

“So whatever you want. Whatever your dream wedding looks like is what I want,” I assure her. I should add something along the lines of it’s a marriage of convenience anyway, but I don’t because this whole situation is starting to feel all too real.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-THREE

Ellie

Heading on a plane to Canada four days before my wedding was the last thing I thought I would be doing, but the fact Connor trusts me enough to deal with Sybil is also endearing. I’ve never had this kind of relationship before. The sex is hotter than hell, he is there for me when I need him, we talk about deep intimate stuff, the sex is hotter than hell. Just thinking about sex makes my pussy clench. I stare out the window, trying to divert my mind off the sex, in order to rehearse what it is I will say to Sybil. I have all the photos of Warren hitting on me in my satchel. Sybil is expecting Connor to meet her at her house. She is going to be surprised, to say the least, when she sees me but we couldn’t tell her it was me who was coming off the bat. She wouldn’t have agreed to the meeting. Now I have to be convincing enough to get myself in her front door and say my piece.

After a six-hour flight to Vancouver, I get off the plane and head through customs. Since I only have a carry-on with me, I leave through the doors of the airport.

I take an Uber to Sybil’s place and when I arrive outside her large home, I inhale deeply. I sure as hell hope Warren isn’t in there.

I ring her bell, feeling my hands shake and my heart beating fast.

There is an intercom at her front door. “What are you doing here?” Sybil asks accentuating the word ‘you.’

“Sybil, I need you to hear me out.”

“Connor was supposed to come,” she snaps.

“I need to talk to you. I think you and I might have more in common than you realize,” I say.

“You’re an Albizzi, I get it, now fuck off.”

Okay, I knew this was going to be tough but I can’t back down.

“Then you know how I grew up. You know what it’s like to have parents who work all the time and don’t care about your emotions or well-being,” I say.

“Maybe that’s what you had but my parents are amazing,” she retorts.

“Connor tells a different story, Sybil. I’m not here to fight. I’m here to talk. Woman to woman. I love Syd and I know you love her too. I have some information here that you need to know.” I hold up the manila envelope in my hand, knowing she has cameras on me.
