“I can’t believe we’re back here,” I say to Connor. He brought me back to the cabin in the Catskills. He said he felt like we had some unfinished business here. Now we are lying buck naked on the couch after having sex twice. Once against the window with me still in my wedding gown, and the second time here on the couch after I said I needed the wedding gown off me.

We’re lying together, my back to his front, as he holds me in his arms, our bodies connected.

“There’s still a lot I don’t know about you,” he says.

“And there is still a lot I don’t know about you,” I reply.

“But I’m glad we have the rest of our lives to figure it out. What I need to know, I already know,” he says, spreading soft kisses down my nape.

“What do you know?” My voice cracks as goosebumps erupt over my body from his soft kisses.

“That you have the biggest heart I’ve ever known. That you’re kind and giving. Syd loves you to pieces,” he continues.

“I adore her too,” I reply. “And you. You have a big heart too, Connor. You’ve just been guarded.”

“I’ve been hurt. It’s scary to love. My father died the same year my mom did and I think it’s because he loved her so much. He just didn’t want to be around without her and his body just stopped working the way it should’ve. It was painful to watch,” he confesses.

“That sounds like a tragedy, but I’m sure if you asked either of them, they would’ve told you they never regretted a moment together,” I say, rubbing his arm and feeling the soft hairs tickling my fingers.

“I asked him that question when he was in the hospital. He said he had no regrets. He was just sorry to be leaving me alone so young,” Connor says.

My heart breaks for him.

“I never really allowed myself to feel, but now I’m thinking I didn’t feel anything because I wasn’t with the right person. From the moment you came barreling into our lives, something inside me knew this would be different,” he says softly.

“I get what you’re saying. Besides you being insanely hot, I had a deeper sense about you too and the size of your cock was helpful in sealing the deal,” I joke to lighten the mood.

“You couldn’t keep your eyes off my cock during those sponge baths. I seriously think you were salivating over me,” he teases.

“I was,” I confirm with no shame.

“And that made me want you even more. I never stood a chance, did I?” he asks.

“When I want something, I can be pretty relentless,” I admit.

He captures my mouth in a kiss and takes hold of my breast, kneading it.

“This isn’t the honeymoon,” he says into my mouth. “I just took this place for tonight. We leave for Europe in the morning. Two days in Switzerland. Two days Scotland, then two days Ireland. You said you liked landscapes, and I didn’t want to leave Syd for too long. She’ll be staying with Skylar and Liam.”

“That sounds perfect.”

“Have you been to those places?” he asks.

“I have, but it doesn’t count. I was always left in the hotels,” I explain.

“This will be different. We will be touring, wine tasting, fucking,” he says, nipping my neck.

“That sounds exquisite.”

“I need you in a bed,” Connor says, and he stands from the couch. I’m about to stand when he lifts me in his arms.

“What are you doing?” I shriek.

“Carrying you to bed,” he replies, as if it isn’t obvious.

“Benefits of marrying an athlete,” I laugh.
