She’s completely lost it.

But I have to try.

“Selene… please. I’ll come work for you and the Bachelors indefinitely. Itdoesn’thave to be this way.”

“But I don’t trust you not to leave, Maxxy. And the only way to ensure you never leave again is to make sure a part of you isalwayswith me.”

I furrow my brows at her statement. “What does that mean?”

She chuckles. “Well, I’m glad you asked. After you die, I will keep a part of you as a memento. I haven’t decided yet. A tooth, a toe, oh, maybe I’ll carve off a tattoo from your thigh and frame it. Wouldn’t that be creative?”

Jesus Christ. She’s fucking insane.

“Selene… just let me go. Please!”

“I like it when you beg, but I have so much more planned for you…” She chuckles. “Trap, get the chains.”

Oh fuck!

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Hoodoo

My mind is racing as I take off, wearing only my jeans, no shoes, no shirt, out into the middle of the clubhouse. Everyone turns to look at me as I run with my head snapping around the area, trying to search for Maxxy.

“Where is she?” I call out, and Hurricane steps up to me with a smirk.

“I dunno what she found on your computer, brother, but she wasn’t happy about it.”

My shoulders slump. “Maxxy found a letter I typed to ‘G.’ I haven’t told Maxxy about her, so she would have read it and not known what the hell it was.”

Hurricane raises his brow. “You haven’t told Maxxy you have a pen pal you’ve been writin’ to for the last six years? That’s a deal breaker, Hoodoo.”

Running my fingers through my hair in frustration, I groan. “Fuck, I know. I didn’t know how to tell her without it sounding fucking weird.”

Hurricane tilts his head to the side. “It is fuckin’ weird. So whatcha gonna do?”

“I’ve gotta find her. Ihaveto talk to her.”

“Good man.” He slaps my shoulder, and I walk outside the clubhouse to make the call.

The phone rings, and my nerves run rampant as I wait for Maxxy to answer, but it goes straight to voicemail.

Gritting my teeth in annoyance, I try again, but for a second time, it rings out. “Dammit, Maxxy!” I grumble. “Well, if you won’t answer your phone, then I guess I’m coming to you,” I say to myself as I spin, heading back inside the club. Making my way to Raid’s den, I push the alert buzzer, and seconds later, the door opens. I pop my head through, and he lifts his chin in greeting.

“Sorry, no updates on the Selene issue, but I am try—”

“That’s not what I’m here for,” I interrupt him, moving inside, and I take a seat on the edge of his desk.

“All right, hit me.”

“I need you to track Maxxy’s cell.”

He says nothing but stares at me like he can’t figure out what’s happening.

“Now, Raid!”

He raises his brows but spins and starts typing on his keyboard. “She missing? I would have thought Hurricane would be in here with you if shit were going down?”
