“Then I just want to hold you,” he murmured, drawing my back against his chest. “I would hold you forever if I could.”

I smiled, wriggling against him and biting my lip with pleasure when he slipped into me from behind. His lips brushed my neck.

“Where would you like my bite, Dreamgirl?” he asked.

Warmth was spreading through my body with each rock of his hips. I smiled, thinking about it.

It wasn’t until I felt him press his knot against me, a low hum of contentment in my chest as I wriggled against him, that I thought I knew. He chuckled, turning us both so he was on top of me and I could see his beautiful violet eyes. Then he stretched me out with his knot, his groan of pleasure a twin to mine.

I cupped his face, drawing him into a kiss. Then I lifted my wrist to him, the one with the dark bite Cerus had left.

“You want me to cover it?” he asked.

“No.” That didn’t feel right. I didn’t want his bite touching Cerus’s at all. “Above it.” When I looked at my hand, I wanted to see his claim first.

“I can do that, Dreamgirl.”

He drew my wrist to his mouth and pressed his teeth to the base of my palm.

I let out a breath as I felt the connection bloom. He flooded my mind, love and passion and… I thought that might be peace.

“You saved us,” he told me as he drew his teeth away.

“We are going to heal together,” I whispered.

“We already are.” His smile was breathtaking.

I curled up in his arms, content.

Thiswas bliss.

I was, somehow, on the other end of hope. There was no dark bond chaining me anymore.

And my heat, the thing I’d spent so much of my life afraid of, had become something full of light and joy and happiness.

The last of the darkness torn away.

EBONY

I woke up to hear omega-light creeping footsteps on the rug beside me.

Sunlight filtered through the windows, though it could just as easily be mid-afternoon as early morning. Time hadn’t had meaning in a while, and my whole body was sore.

I saw a flash of brownish-silver waves.

What was she doing?

I squinted, not moving an inch.

I saw her creep around the bed and slide something that sounded small and made of metal on the bedside table. When she clambered back into bed, curling up at my back, I lifted my head to see what it was.

A grin spread on my lips, and I turned to her, drawing her tight enough into my arms that she let out a tiny little squeak.

“What are you doing, Little Omega?” I asked her.

She pressed something cold against my chest. “You won it back,” she whispered.

I looked down to see the cleaving iron she’d stolen from me all those weeks ago. A purr rose in my chest, and she snuggled closer, a pretty smile curving her lips as she closed her eyes.
