She was my world. A woman who wanted me as I was.

As she tumbled back into sleep, content as I purred, I peeked back around to where she’d crept.

Behind me on the side table was the gold key to Rook’s collar.

EPILOGUE ONE

DRAKE

Vex’s heat was over, and we were settling into a new normal.

One where we weren’t singularly focused on the next acting gig, and our pack had a sense of cohesiveness. The pack really was starting to feel like a pack. It was a strange thing, as what we had now wasn’t something I’d noticed we were missing. But my brothers were truly starting to feel like a family—bickering and all.

Yesterday I’d caught Love lecturing Ebony on how it wasneveracceptable to steal from his omega’s nest and replace her things. As the argument got heated, I couldn’t help peering around the corner. Ebony had bundles of fabric in his arms and his jaw was clenched in rage.

“Put them back,” Love demanded.

“Mine arebetter,” Ebony snapped.

“I don’t care how many Crimson Fury pack pillow cases you bought. She wants—”

“My omega isnotsleeping on a Prey Nightingale—”

“She certainlyis”—Love jabbed Ebony in the chest—“and you are going todeal with it!”

I had to clamp a hand over my mouth to stifle my laugh.

“Now!” Love snarled. “Put. Them.Back.”

I’d never clocked Ebony as a tantrum kind of alpha, but there was no other word for it as I watched him dump the entire bundle of Hunting Falcons pillow cases over Love’s head before stalking off.

I was working on my plans for Vex, converting one of the offices on the first floor to a recording studio. Rook had hooked me up with some industry contacts who knew how to get it done well.

The contractors were in the house today, hard at work, as we were taking advantage of Rook’s decision to take her for a full day of shopping.

He’d sworn they’d take all day and had a lot to do. All I knew was that they were going to find the perfect charms to give to Havoc and Prey for friendship bracelets. And find housewarming gifts for Gambit's family—Rook had managed to find a family and omega friendly apartment building that had openings. There was, however, also a mystery gift for Vex that he had conspired with Love about, and the two of them were buzzing with excitement over it, and completely tight lipped.

What would take the whole day, though?

Plus, Rook had sworn to Vex he would get her a gift that would trump every gift Ebony had ever given.

That wasn’t a competition I would ever willingly enter.

While we had contractors in, Love was also discussing renovations in the garden. He wanted to convert the little cove of seating on the covered patio into a new firepit. We were enjoying the evenings with pack time, and he wanted to be able to continue into the winter months.

Meanwhile, I was in Vex’s nest, examining her dream board. It now spanned half the wall and was starting to populate.

She’d opened four more sections, one for each of us to fill.

It had been less than twenty-four hours, but Rook’s section was almost full.

He’d received a document in the mail this morning. Within the hour, he’d mounted it in a golden frame and hung it right in the middle of his section. It was a very official letter stating he had been wiped from the Harrison Pack will.

Around it were dozens of selfies of Vex and him—though we were, at least, featured in most of them now.

In Ebony’s space there was one photo, one I was sure Rook had left. It was Vex beside the rooftop pool, a snarl on her face as Ebony wrestled two inflatable arm bands on her as he insisted on teaching her to swim. Beside it was the card Rook had bought for Ebony at the hospital. It was an out of season Grinch Christmas card, and inside were the words,‘his amygdala grew three sizes that day’.

I smiled, eyes lingering on my empty space. The one I was here to fill.
