The words spew out of me. “He has evidence against us, they found Chance’s body four days ago and the feds are trying to pin it on us.”
“Why, you?”
I don’t pretend to misunderstand what he means. “He came to me because we knew each other.”
“How?”
“I met him at UNLV when he was undercover investigating the Vargas heir but at the time, I didn’t know he was a fed.”
“And then what happened?”
Pain blooms inside my chest as I tell my dad the truth. “I fell in love with the enemy and he broke my heart.”
“You let him live?” The disbelief in his tone is clear.
“I couldn’t kill him, mom was the first shot you ever missed and Connor Ryker was mine.” I know he is a fed and if the family finds out that I’m trading information to keep them all safe they are going to kill me, all I had to do was pull the trigger and keep my vow to my family but no matter how hard I tried, even when Connor told me to do it I couldn’t because I was madly in love with the fucking enemy.
I’ll figure out a way out of this and I’ll make sure he gets Broken by Sin.
