“I should have been here. Do you see what happens when I’m not here? Lily and Jameson start having sex? What the fuck? Has everyone in this entire town gone crazy?”

Selena arches a dark eyebrow at me. “And how exactly would you have stopped it, if we were here?”

“I would have stopped it,” I mutter, knowing that I wouldn’t have known how to stop it at all.

“You were fine with Lily and Gunnar being a thing, if that ever happened. Gunnar’s your cousin. Jameson’s your brother. What’s the difference?”

“The difference is this is crazy. She’s… Lily. And he’s… Jameson. They don’t make any kind of sense together.”

“It doesn’t have to make sense to us, Nugget. We probably don’t make sense to people, either.”

“We make perfect sense, baby.”

“I know that, and you know that. But that’s the thing about relationships. The only people who know the truth about them are the people in them.”

“I’m still pissed at you for not telling me about this sooner. I can’t believe you knew and kept it to yourself. We don’t lie to each other, Selena.”

“How many times do I have to tell you that I never once lied to you about this? It’s not my fault I figured it out the second I saw them together that day we all helped at her shop. Lily made me swear not to tell you.”

Turning to look at her, I glare and then keep on pacing. “You can say it as many times as you want to. I’m still pissed at you for not telling me. And I’m pissed at Lily. And fucking Jameson.”

“It was new. She was nervous about it. Just because we were front page news from the second we met, not everyone wants that. You know, I sure as hell didn’t.”

“I don’t like it.”

“Are you going to let me finish?”

“Maybe.”

“I already told you that I never lied to you. I told Lily I wouldn’t. We don’t lie to each other anymore. So, I told her that if you figured it out, then I wouldn’t lie to you about it.”

“But you knew I wouldn’t figure it out when you said that, didn’t you?”

Selena shrugs her perfect shoulders. “Maybe.”

“You know you just earned yourself another spanking for this, right?”

“Can’t wait, Nugget. Can’t freaking wait.” The way she’s smiling at me? Yeah, I think my pretty little wife is going to distract me with a lot of sex tonight.

“What am I going to do with you? And what the hell am I going to do about this?”

“You’re not doing anything about it. You need to stay out of it and let the two of them figure it out.”

I stop short and round on her. “No fucking way. She’s my best friend, Selena.”

“And she’s the woman your brother loves.”

That has me taking another step toward her. “You think he loves her? Did she tell you that?”

When Selena shakes her head, her dark hair tumbles back and forth over her shoulders. “No. She didn’t tell me that. I don’t think he’s told her yet, or she would have told me. But have you seen the way he can’t take his eyes off of her? The way he held onto her at the hospital? I know what a Waters boy looks like when he’s in love, Jackson. And Jameson’s in love with Lily.”

“What if she hurts him?” I don’t like this. I don’t like any of this. It’s too messy.

“First, you’re worried that he’s going to break her heart, and now you’re worried that she’s going to break his heart? What if she loves him, too? What if they get married and have babies and are happy forever? We’ll only find out if you keep your sexy butt out of it.”

Narrowing my eyes at her, I tug her up onto her knees on the bed and wrap my arms around her. I need her pressed against me while I figure this out. Selena melts against me like always. Fuck me, I love the feel of her soft body.

“Did she tell you she loves him?”
