“No.”

“You planning on talking to her anytime soon? It’s a small town, Jensen. People are going to talk if you two keep ignoring each other,” Jacks asks, frowning.

“Nope.”

“That’s just dumb. So, it sounds about right,” Jasper grins and waves across to Haley.

She waves back, smiles, and then walks inside with her head down, following her brother.

“It’s like he misses getting his ass kicked or something?” Jensen says through gritted teeth.

“You used to get your ass kicked?” Doc asks him, frowning.

He grins down at her and shakes his head. “No. Other way around.”

“Who’s going to dance with Jarret?” Selena asks.

“I don’t need my brother’s girlfriend finding me a date.”

“My wife,” Jacks corrects. Loudly.

“Oh, come on, Jarret. I’m your big sister now.”

“You’re younger than me.”

“But I’m with Jackson, and he’s the oldest. So, that makes me your older sister.” Selena reaches her hand all the way up to Jarret’s head and ruffles his hair the same as she way she does to me sometimes.

Jacks grabs her hand back and kisses it. “You know you’re driving him crazy, and I’m the one who’s going to get punched, right?”

“You love defending my honor, Nugget.”

“I’m not sure I love it. But I’m always going to do it.”

“Hold on, Selly. I don’t like that math. I’m with Jameson, and he’s the youngest. So, that would make me all of these assholes’ little sister. Absolutely not.”

“Hmmm. I agree. We may need to workshop the math.”

“You two can do crazy math later. Let’s go show all these people how to two-step, Lemon.”

chapter sixty

jameson

Lemon lets me push her around the dance floor, two-stepping as she laughs and smiles at me. Big, happy smiles that she doesn’t care if anyone sees. She’s so beautiful, smiling, with her long, blonde hair tumbling around her shoulders. This woman is it for me. She’s my everything.

After a while she taps on my chest. “Let’s take a break, kid. I’m sweating. And it’s time for you to buy me another rosé.”

Leaning down, I press my lips against her forehead. “I’ll always get you whatever you need, babe.”

“You better,” she mutters before turning and taking my hand as we head out to the bar truck.

With fresh drinks in our hands, we’re heading over to meet up with the rest of my family at the side of the dance floor when Mrs. Barker and her sister, Mrs. Collins, walk right in front of us. As nice of a lady as Mrs. Barker is, I think she got all the nice in that family. It’s not polite to call an old woman a bitch. But half the town is scared of Mrs. Collins. My mom used to make us cross the street to avoid running into her.

And she’s glaring right at me. Shit.

Mrs. Barker gives us a big smile, though. “Oh, hello, Lily dear. How are you tonight? And Jarret, is it?”

Lily smiles up at me, squeezing my hand. “Actually, this is Jameson.”
