“I guess you can move in with me. It probably makes the most sense. Or else I’d have to move in with you and Jasper in your apartment. Because there’s no way I’m going to sleep across town from you. Not ever again.”

“Good. Because the only place I want to be is right here next to you.”

“I love you, kid. I love you so freaking much.”

“I love you, babe. I’ve never loved anyone or anything like I love you.”

“We’re engaged, Jameson.”

“I know. Still kind of can’t believe you said yes, babe.”

Frowning, I press my hand against his face. “Really? Then I’m doing something wrong. Of course, I said yes. You’re nothing like I expected. And you’re everything I want. There was no way I wasn’t saying yes when you asked me to marry you.”

“Good. Remember that the next time I piss you off.”

“Ha! Good luck with that, kid. No free passes. You’re just going to have to work for my forgiveness.”

He grins at me, leaning forward and grazing his teeth over my shoulder. “You know I will, babe.”

“We’re engaged, kid.”

“You think you’re telling me something I don’t know? I was the guy down on one knee tonight, babe.”

“We’re engaged. So, it’s time for you to tell me why you call me Lemon.”

“Ahhh, so that’s what this is about.”

“Tell me. Or I’ll tickle it out of you.”

“You think you can take me, Lemon?”

“Yes. There’s no doubt in my mind. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. But you’re telling me tonight one way or another, kid.”

“You going to call me kid when I’m your husband?”

“I was planning on it. You’re going to be eighty, and I’m still going to be calling you kid. Unless you don’t want me to?”

“Babe, you can call me whatever the hell you want. Just as long as you’re mine.”

“I’m yours, kid. Maybe I wasn’t always. But I think I’ve been yours since the first night you scared off TumbleWed Mike and took me home from the Goldrush.”

“Why the hell do you even still remember that asshole’s name?”

Smiling at him, I run my fingers over his forehead and push back his dark hair. “Can you ever really forget the name of a man who accidentally grazes your boobs and talks at you about fishing for an hour?”

“Lemon.”

“Right. I don’t remember his name at all. I don’t remember anything before you, kid.”

“That’s more like it. And for the record, I’ve been yours longer, Lemon. I’ve been yours since you licked my stomach at the Goldrush in front of everyone.”

“Good thing you were the one standing next to me that night. I could have ended up marrying Jarret.”

Jameson flinches. “Don’t even joke about that, Lemon. I’m not sure what’s worse, the thought of his hands on you, or how miserable you’d be with that grumpy idiot.”

“You don’t need to worry about that. I would murder his grumpy ass long before the wedding.”

“Good.”
