WELL, FAMOUS LAST WORDS, right?

We gave the guys a few days off before our trip. The team decided to make it a fully filmed experience, so I was nominated to drive them out to the resort with cameras attached to my car like we were in a reality show or something. I was a bit embarrassed to have them in my little Ford Fiesta, but neither said a word about the level of sophistication of my ride. Alejandro claimed shotgun, which stuck Jason in the back. Behind me because Alejandro of course put his seat all the way back. I swear that man is so petty.

The drive up was relatively painless. The men bickered over my choice of music, but one reminder that we were being filmed was all it took to get them to accept a road trip serenaded by Phoebe Bridgers.

“I swear, Kat,” said Jason, “You will never get a job creating playlists for pre-race hype.”

“Well it is a good thing I don’t want one then, eh? I’ve got my hands full as it is babysitting you two.”

The rest of the trip passed peacefully, both men quickly dozing off, which promised to yield some great fan content. We arrived at the resort in the early evening. Apparently there was some sort of event taking place because the place was packed. My car looked pathetic in comparison to all of the sports cars and luxury vehicles in the parking lot, but I loved it. No way wasIgoing to change my fucking car.

Inside the desk clerk looked frazzled, and checked us in with exhausted efficiency. I exchanged my company card for the room keys and we went upstairs. I was looking forward to getting into my own room. Being with the two men in tight quarters for so long was stifling, and I needed a little space to breathe.

Space I was apparently not going to get.

Our door opened and instead of a luxury suite we stepped into a single room. The king sized bed dominated the space and the only other furniture was a table with three chairs.

“Shit” I muttered under my breath.

“Kat?” asked Jason.

Alejandro crossed to the table. “There must be some mistake.” He picked up the phone and dialed. I missed his conversation as a dull buzzing filled my ears and jumped when he slammed the receiver. “No mistake.”

“What? I asked.

“The hotel is completely booked. There is some sort of wedding happening and they have no other rooms.” his eyes hardened as he looked at me. “What sort of place did you book us into, Kat?”

“I, uh . . . a nice one? I don’t know. I thought I made it very clear when I made our reservation. One car, three room suite.”

“Well that is not what we have now is it?”

“Hold up,” said Jason stepping the rest of the way into the room and closing the door. “So you are telling me this is our room and we have literally only one bed.”

“Apparently,” said Alejandro.

“Oh my sister is going to love this.” Jason murmured. Speaking louder he crossed to the bed and flopped down. “Ok, problem solving time. The up side is we have this room for the night. The downside is there are three of us. And I didn’t see any other hotels on our way up which means this is the only place to stay for the night. So here’s my proposal. We go out, have dinner, and then get so shit-faced we won’t care where we sleep.”

“Um,” I glanced at the bed and then at the two men. “I guess? I mean, at least we’ll get some good content and it will make for a funny story?” I looked over at Alejandro. “What do you think?”

Alejandro let out a dramatic sigh, but then smiled. “Ok I guess. Since we are here anyway.”

Jason smiled. “Kat, I hope you brought some nice clothes with you. Time to go crash a wedding.”

AND CRASH A WEDDINGwe did. Luckily we had planned on a nice dinner while we were here, so I had a dress stashed in my bag. Was it wedding appropriate? Not really, but it did the trick. Especially when I showed up with two gorgeous and famous men. We arrived at the reception post dinner but pre-toasts, so we ordered a little room service to the lobby and then availed ourselves of the open bar.

I managed all of one drink before Jason grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. I was initially hesitant, but it was easier to go along with him than to resist. I could tell by the look on his face that he would have no problem making a scene. Plus who could resist his grin? Not me. And by the jealous glances I saw out of the corner of my eye, not any of the other women here.

We laughed and spun through a fast song until suddenly there was a tap on my shoulder. “Mind if I cut in?” came a feminine voice. I turned to see the bride standing over my shoulder and glanced over to see if Jason had any objections. He turned his grin to her. “Who am I to deny a bride?” he said, holding out his hand.

I smiled and slipped away as they began to dance, her new wife standing on the side of the dance floor video taping the moment. The joy that radiated from her stopped my heart and I took a moment to mentally wish them well. Would that we all could experience a moment of such happiness.

Looking around I spotted Alejandro making small talk with an older gentleman in a suit. Based on his body language he’d been trapped in this conversation for a while. They both looked up as I walked over “Excuse me, could I borrow my friend?” I asked the older gentleman.

“Oh, yes, of course miss,” he said as we walked away.
