“Um… Why are we meeting in Vegas?”

“I can’t be too far from Silicon Valley.”

“I see.”

“Your tone is in different.”

I grimace at the phone. “It isn’t.”

“You haven’t heard from me in weeks, and now I’m demanding you travel across the country once you land in New York.” He exhales. “It’s a bit of an asshole move.” Yes, it is.

“What makes you think I don’t have a client schedule for when I return to New York?”

He growls.

“Todd can replace you. When you get to Vegas, I’ll give you enough money to smooth things over with your booking agent.”

I don’t have any clients booked, but no way am I going to make this easy on him. “You say that like your privy to how Todd operates his business. What if I’m booked for a whole week with another client? You expect me to travel from Vegas to New York with a suitcase filled with money?”

“Goddammit, Sofia! Stop fucking with me. I’m dying to see you. Don’t you want to see me?”

Chapter 25

Sofia

I stopped breathing when the e-ticket landed in my inbox. The staggering price had my eyes bulging out of my skull.

Don’t try this at home, folks.

A last-minute first-class ticket from New York to Vegas is the price of a used car.

After collecting my luggage, I head to the arrival area of McCarran International Airport.

Familiar blue eyes stare at me.

He’s here!

He assured me he’d be waiting for me when I landed, but in the last month he’s broken so many promises.

He didn’t disappoint me this time.

He waves.

If it wasn’t for my luggage, I’d run to him, jump in his arms, pepper kisses all over his handsome face, and tell him how much I’ve missed him and how much I love him—

Whoa!

Stop the car, slam it in reverse, and back the hell up.

Love?

I don’t… love him. Do I?

Mother of God, I’m doomed.

I’m in love with my first Pretty Woman gig client.

Todd is going to chew my lovestruck head off.
