Fuck, fuck, fuck!

Chapter 34

Sofia

The chauffeured ride back to Bryce’s apartment is excruciating. He goes on and on about the stupid light fixtures and how glad he is Ciara can come to his rescue.

Yup! She’s a real Florence Nightingale.

The minute the door to his apartment closes, he pounces on me like a tiger, ready to rip my clothes off.

I push him away.

“What’s wrong?” he asks.

“I have bad stomach cramps,” I lie. “It’s that time of the month.”

“I’m not afraid of a little blood. If it’s a problem for you, I can fuck you in the shower.”

“It’s not so much the blood. I have a brutal headache, my back is aching, and my stomach is killing me. I’m not feeling well.”

He frowns. “You didn’t seem in pain at the restaurant.”

I lick my lips, my throat parched. “I didn’t want to rush the meeting, but I’ve been feeling this way for hours.”

“Let’s go to bed. I’ll hold you to make you feel better.”

Having him by my side is the best gift I could have asked for, but it’s another sleepless night for me as I count the hours until Ciara has Bryce all to herself.

Chapter 35

Sofia

It’s not Alistair’s fault I haven’t been able to sleep in the last two days. I can’t allow my restless mind to make him look bad.

As I wrap up a project, my phone rings.

Bryce. Again.

I hesitate.

I can’t keep dodging him forever.

With a sigh, I accept the call. “Hey!”

“You’re one busy translator,” he says. “I’ve been trying to reach you since your sister left our office five hours ago. Did she text you?” I’ve been avoiding her texts and calls. “It’s been a busy morning.”

“Same here.”

“You’re running an empire.”

“Hey, don’t discount what you do.”

I cringe. “You’re right.” I ask the big scary question. “Will you be working with Ciara?”

“She’s certain she can hit it out of the park.”

“She always does.”
