They nod their approval.

“We’d paint the outer brackets, the outer headbands and domes,” I tell them. “The slogan I had in mind goes as follows, SCORE Yours—top quality headphones combined with our signature customization… just for you. As unique as you.” I’m on a roll. “If we can source out some cool artists, we could also offer cool artwork or graffiti designs via decals as another exclusive customizable line.” My eyes bounce from Rhys to Beckett.

“Arianne, this is pure gold!” Rhys says. “I love it!”

“I agree,” Beckett says. “I love every aspect of this concept.”

Pride courses through me.

Even though Beckett and me have been dating for nearly two months, I’ve guarded this idea close to my heart, careful not to reveal anything before the presentation.

“I’m pleased,” I tell them.

“We already have an unfair advantage, but this will leave our competitors in the dust,” Rhys says.

“That’s the whole point,” I say. “There will be copycats. But SCORE will be the first on the market, therefore the leader.”

“As long as everybody remembers who’s number one, I can live with that,” Beckett says.

We all laugh.

“Now that you’re on board, let’s talk about launching SCORE Yours with a bang!” I say.

I can hardly contain my excitement!

Chapter 45

Beckett

“This is so nerve-racking,” Arianne says. She squeezes my hand hard. I squeeze back.

“Just a few jitters,” I tell her.

We’re in the back of the chauffeured car on our way to the gala to announce SCORE Yours to the press. The affair is taking place at Building 22—a luxury tower not too far from Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.

“It’s more than that…” She places a hand against her stomach. “I think I’m going to throw up.”

Shit.

“Do you need me to ask the chauffeur to stop?”

She lifts a hand up.

I don’t rush her.

With her eyes closed, she inhales a deep breath. Then, exhales.

She does that a few times before speaking.

“It was just a figure of speech, but God my stomach is tied up in a knot.”

“Arianne, this isn’t the first time you’ve spearhead a massive project. You’ve done it several times in the past. You have more than enough experience under your belt.”

“I’ve always been in the background. Chance insisted on presenting my ideas to the rest of the company and the press. According to him, having more than one spokesperson is confusing.”

“You know that’s utter bullshit.”

“I know now it was just part of his ploy to hog all the credits for Glach Tech’s growth. Still, I’ve never been in this position before.”
