I move my hips up and down, enjoying the feel of his hands on my body. I lean down and bury my face against his shoulder while he moves his hands up and down my back with need, driving pins and needles to my brain and putting me closer to the edge than ever before.

He makes me lean backwards, holding me by the waist. We’re moving like a single being. I can feel Brody’s hands on every inch of my chest with his free hand, while my eyes are focused on the ceiling. I’m now moaning for everyone to hear, nearing the edge at every second.

I lean down and kiss him deeply and moan into him and as we both look at each other, I nod, and he nods back.

In just a few more strokes, I cry out and fall against his chest, resting my head against his shoulder, listening to both of our heavy breathing. He lifts my chin up and looks me in the eye as he leans down to kiss me softly.

I’m not sure how long we lay like that, him rubbing my back gently and me gently drawing circles with my finger on his chest, but in that moment, it feels like everything is going to be okay.

Brody kisses the top of my head then stretches.

“Now I really need to go back to work,” he says, playful.

“Hmm…” I complain. “The radio is silent.”

“For now,” Brody says, slowly sitting up.

I’m left alone in the couch while he gets dressed, and all too soon his shirt is back on, and his gun is holstered.

I’m starting to feel some regret for what I’ve done; it is only 8 pm and I still have the rest of the night left with him here.

I close my robe, giving me back some dignity. He’s back to ignoring me, focused on his binoculars.

It’s getting dark outside, I already had dinner, and now feel incredibly awkward.

I go and hop back in the shower to clean up, then hide in my bedroom for the rest of the night.

Chapter Six

BRODY

Lilyactedweirdforthe rest of the night.

I sincerely hope what happened doesn’t ruin her trust in me to keep her safe, but now it’s too late to lament.

Before retiring to her room, she had mentioned that she hoped she didn’t jeopardize the contract, but I reassured her that I wouldn’t say anything about it.

Even as I had said it, I was surprised at myself for breaking the rules so carelessly like that. I’m such a stickler, but apparently, she is my exception.

I shake my head to clear my thoughts and focus on the road. Right now, I’m in my car, a giant SUV that I insist I drive, even in the middle of New York. I’m braving the traffic to go pick up Eric from school, when the past decides to call me on the phone.

“Hello, Ana,” I greet my ex-wife’s face on the screen.

“Are you on your way to get Eric?” She asks, grumpy.

“Yup. It’s my weekend with him. I wouldn’t be here otherwise.”

I see Ana shake her head and sigh, “So, you’re admitting that you only stay with your son out of obligation?”

Now I’m the one who gets grumpy, “Ana, I make sure he wants for nothing and I’m always there when he needs me. What else do you want from me? My blood?”

“Brody, no!” She says, sounding disgusted. “Argh… I don’t know what I want. I’m just overwhelmed with Spring Break around the corner.”

“You’ll have to take care of Eric during Spring Break and beyond.” I inform her dryly. I see Ana swallow, at a loss for words. “A client is going on tour, and I need to accompany her.”

“Her? Are you sure she’s just a client?” Jealousy. One of the reasons why we broke up.

“Since when do I owe you explanations about my personal life, Ana?” I say, my grumpiness taking over.
