“Probably not.”

The three women stared at her.

“We were college lovers, we broke up. End of story.”

“But you broke up because of kink, right?” Allyson asked.

Dani closed her eyes. “That was part of it, yes.”

“You’re into kink now,” Sierra said.

“So, what’s the problem?” Crystal asked.

Dani looked at the women. “Gabriel doesn’t think I belong in Wicked Sanctuary. He can’t accept I’m in the lifestyle, which is weird. And there is also the fact that he’s not into commitment. I’d be wasting my time.”

Sierra’s jaw dropped open; Crystal started coughing, and Allyson stared at her.

“I can’t believe Gabriel is commitment phobic. He’s such a nice guy,” Sierra said.

“Being nice doesn’t mean he doesn’t have issues,” Crystal said.

“Not into commitment? That doesn’t make sense. He works with Zeke. In fact, they run the company together; how is that not commitment?” Allyson asked.

“Maybe I should say marriage commitment.” Dani huffed. “How much do you ladies know about Gabriel?”

“We’ve all talked with him,” Sierra said.

“I’ve had dinner with him several times, and of course, Zeke was there. But Gabriel rarely talks about anything personal.”

“That’s true,” Crystal said.

Dani sat back. She didn’t want to betray any confidences Gabriel had shared with her. “Let’s just say he didn’t have good role models when he was growing up.”

The women laughed.

“Not one of us did, yet we’re all committed to our men,” Sierra said.

“I think it’s different for men,” Dani said. Gabriel’s parents’ marriages and divorces took a toll on Gabriel. He didn’t believe relationships ever lasted. She understood, or at least she thought she did. It wasn’t easy. She’d had security and love her entire life. Her parents died when she was eight, but her grandparents took her in and showed her love and security.

“Let’s talk about something else,” Crystal said. “Tell us how you got into kink.”

“San Francisco enlightened her,” Allyson chimed in.

Dani grinned. “I will say once I found the right group of people, they opened my eyes to a lot.” She began telling them about her adventures in San Francisco. From the private parties to the clubs to the homes she’d partied in.

Monday morning, Gabriel pulled into the almost empty Wicked Sanctuary parking lot. Zeke had asked him to meet him at the club so they could go over all the work that had been done on the club’s expansion.

He’d agreed. Gabriel didn’t expect any issues. The construction team who worked on the project had been with the company for years. But last week, there’d been a couple of new guys because Riggs Construction was busy. Very busy. Heck, Gabriel had more projects than he could handle. After he was done with Zeke, he had two more meetings to go to.

“Hey, Gabriel,” Zeke called.

Gabriel looked up to see Zeke waving at him from the new back wall. He strode over. “It’s looking good.” The expansion did look good. The walls were solid. They’d made sure of it. Since the older part of the building was concrete and rebar, they wanted this to blend in, but with better materials. More sustainable materials.

He rounded the corner and stopped. Dani was there and so was Max. “Good morning.” He forced himself to sound normal. Gabriel hadn’t stopped thinking about Dani since Friday. After he left her apartment, he did a lot of thinking and came to one conclusion.

He didn’t want to stay away from her. If she was a changed woman who had truly gotten into kink, he wanted to be the one to show her everything he had to offer. If she was determined to be at Wicked Sanctuary, he was determined to be her Dom.
