“I believe one of the first things we need to do is to learn to trust each other again.”

Dani sucked in a breath. He wasn’t wrong. Somewhere along the line in the relationship, they had lost their trust of each other. She didn’t want that to happen again. “I agree. I’d like to read your club questionnaire.” That would give her some more insight to him.

“I expect nothing less. And I’ll read yours. Let me go outside to call Max and see what’s the best time for us to go to the club and read them. Does that work for you?”

“Yes.”

“Be right back.” Gabriel released her hand and stood. She watched him walk away and admired the way his pants gripped his ass. She groaned and smiled, then ordered coffee for both of them when the waiter walked up to the table.

“Coffee, thanks.” Gabriel sat down. “Max said if we stop by tonight, we can read them, or we can come early tomorrow.”

“I’ll go to the club early tomorrow. I have a full day and don’t want to be out too late.”

“All right. Tomorrow, after you’re done with desk duty, we can sit and chat about any questions we have. Is that good?”

“It works for me.” She drank her coffee. Maybe this was a new beginning for both of them.

The crowd at Wicked Sanctuary was pretty light for Saturday night. Dani smiled as Allyson and Zeke walked away from the check-in station. Her friend had given her a thumbs up as she walked away.

Gabriel had to cancel Friday at the club. She had been surprised; he’d been excited after dinner Thursday night.

The resignation in his voice told her how unhappy he was about canceling, but his mother arrived unexpectedly, and as much as he’d rather spend time with Dani, he couldn’t abandon his mother. She agreed with him; they could talk the following night. His canceling gave her time to think about what he’d put on his questionnaire and what she wanted out of this new relationship with Gabriel.

“I’m surprised there aren’t more people here tonight,” Dani said to Ralph.

“There’s a big concert out at the fairgrounds. I have a feeling a lot of people stayed home instead of trying to deal with the traffic.”

“Oh. The club is so far out, and there’s rarely traffic on this road. I never thought about it.”

“You have to remember our members come from all over; it might be more than traffic on our little road, but the highways can get bogged down.”

“True.” Dani swallowed. “Ralph, can I ask you a personal question?”

“Sure, but that doesn’t mean I’ll answer it.”

“Fair enough. Are you into the lifestyle?” Her understanding was that Ralph had been here almost since the opening of Wicked Sanctuary, but she’d never seen him in the club or heard him talk about playing.”

“That hasn’t been determined yet.”

Ralph turned as a couple came inside. As they signed them in, Dani thought about Ralph’s answer. He’d been around the lifestyle for years, but wasn’t sure if he was part of it.

“Do you want me to stay and keep helping you?” She was a little anxious to get into the club and talk to Allyson.

“Got a hot date with a Dom?” Ralph asked, raising his eyebrows.

“Actually, she does,” a male voice said.

Dani looked up to see Gabriel standing there. Her body heated.

“Very good.” Ralph signed Gabriel in and looked at her. “Go have fun. I know Gabriel will take care of you.”

Dani wondered about Ralph’s words but pushed them to the back of her mind as she stood. Gabriel was right there.

“Give me two minutes to put my stuff in a locker, and I’ll escort you in.”

“I can take care of myself.”
