I look down at a dress I saw in mom’s magazine. The dress was made by someone named Little, I think. Young maybe? I don’t remember.

“Taurus?” My teacher asks again.

I don’t like to talk at school. Mom says it’s better to be quiet, she gets angry when I talk at home. “A dress,” I answer.

“I see. How nice, Taurus.”

After school finished, I rode the bus home and walked back the rest of the way. Opening the door to my house I could tell it was silent, she must have not come home.

“Why did you leave me?” I hear my mom’s voice from her room. She’s crying loudly.

I want to go into her room because I miss her, but I know she will be mad if I do that. So, I go into my room and do my schoolwork.

My eyes open and the light shines on my face, but I am not alone. Ru is holding me tightly as I lie on his strong chest. I push my head forward to kiss his chin, which causes him to shift in his sleep and tighten his grip.

“Ru...” I whisper, but he doesn’t wake. “I need to pee. If you don’t wake up, I am going to pee on you.” I say but a bit louder.

Ru wakes with a small laugh, “Not a kink I would like to explore.” He says as he kissed my lips, making me giggle.

He releases me and I get out of bed. I take a nice shower since I have no plans for the day. When I come out, Ru is gone. He must have left for work. I get dressed in comfortable clothes and head into the main house. I see breakfast has already been prepared. Did he cook this?

“I have a meeting I’m late for. Sorry, I can’t have breakfast with you, but when I get back, I’ll make it up to you.” Ru explains coming out of his bedroom.

“Why didn’t you leave sooner?” I snicker at his uncharacteristic lateness.

“I couldn’t let you wake up alone.” He beams before he heads out the door.

My heart skips an abundance of beats as I watch him walk out. The breakfast laid out looked amazing. I guess I can spend my day in bliss packing for the trip to New York. Fashion week here I come!

Every time I sit in these board meetings, I wonder how my mother did it. When they talk it’s as if they are in a Charlie Brown episode. The meeting adjourns itself after three hours.

After everyone is gone, I look into the projects for the year, but my office phone goes off. “Yes?” I answer.

“Sir, there is a woman down here that says she needs to meet with you. Her name is Tasmin Maxwell. She says it’s important.” I rub my temple. Taurus’s mother has some nerve. “Fine, send her up,” I say before hanging up.

Minutes later that same woman I saw a year ago sits in front of me. The same tan skin, and green eyes, but this time her hair was black.

“How can I help you, Mrs. Maxwell?”

“Ms. Is fine, but I’m not here for you. I am here for my daughter. I hear she is living with you.” I smirk at her statement. Greyson’s level of childishness is something else, but, interestingly, he is still in contact, or rather they had never stopped.

“That’s a private matter.”

She scoffs, “Even from her mother, Mr. Wén. You must understand the position I am in. You are a parent. You should know how far a parent will go to protect our children.”

I flat-out laughed at her statement. “Are you not half the reason our children did not marry? I don’t think you are in any position to throw around the parental card, Ms. Maxwell.”

“From what I heard you are in no position either.” She retorts. “I made mistakes but knowing that she could have died from that fire, put sense back in me. I want to talk with my daughter. I don’t want her to die thinking I don’t love her.”

“That is not up for me to decide.”

“This game you’re playing with her won’t last. You will get tired of her, they all do. She’s charming at first, but when you look closer there’s nothing their worth keeping.”

I’m taken aback, “Excuse me?” For someone who loves her daughter so much, she sure doesn’t think much of her. She seems hostile towards Tauru if anything.
