We landed in New York sooner than I thought. I was afraid of the jet landing. I wanted to stay on here forever if it meant I didn’t have to face Izzy.

When we arrived at Izzy’s home, I knocked on Izzy’s door. Prince answers the door. He embraces us and we shower him with warm kisses on his head in return.

“Hey, cutie.” I squeeze. “Where’s your aunt?”

“Sulking in her room.” He points, “Let’s go jump on her.” Prince suggests.

I snort out a laugh. “Sure.”

We open Izzy’s door and she’s under the blanket. I look at Prince and we count quietly before jumping on the bed, but as we land, we realize there’s a pillow under us and not Izzy. We hear the closet open, and Izzy walks out. “Pathetic, as if you could get the drop on someone as smart as me.” She laughs maniacally.

“I knew you were in there.” Prince rolls his eyes.

Izzy glares, “No, you didn’t.”

“But I did,” he says before running out of the room.

Izzy looks over at me. “Remind me why spanking children is wrong.” She mutters.

“Because it instructs kids to feel nothing but fear. Even though our parents tried to convince us otherwise.” I scoff.

Izzy and I look at each other and we sit on the bed. “This is insane.” She whispers.

“Yeah, but this is my life now.” I sigh.

“Are you happy with Kyro, or is he forcing you to be with him?” Izzy narrows.

I smile brightly. “He’s not forcing me. I enjoy him and his company and the sex even more.”

Izzy looks to the sky and smiles, “Oh shit, it’s that good, huh?’

“Better than good and Prince loves Kyro. Ivan left us well cared for.”

Izzy sighs, “Can’t believe Ivan was a mobster. I just don’t see it. He was such a soft guy. I couldn’t see him doing anything crazy like killing.”

Ivan…if you would have told me, we wouldn’t have been separated. Why didn’t you believe our love would be enough for us to be happy?

“Can I admit something to you?” I whisper.

“Yeah, shoot.” She replies.

“Sometimes when I think of Ivan, I get angry. I feel like he didn’t love me enough, like he didn’t believe in me, you know? If he truly knew me, he would know I would have stayed, but he didn’t. He just kept on lying to me. Shit, he told Prince the truth before me, and Prince wasn’t even ten yet. I know it’s wrong for me to be mad at him, but it hurts when I think about it. Why couldn’t he just trust me? What was the point of our marriage if he didn’t trust me to stay?” Tears slowly fell from my face.

“I can’t answer that, Rey. Only Ivan knows. He buried his secrets with him and, as fucked up as all this is, you must move forward. Sometimes we just don’t get all the answers and it’s shitty, but that’s life.” She pauses, as she moves a curl from my face, “I know Ivan loved you. I know that for sure.”

“Reyna.” I hear Kyro’s voice.

I got up from the bed and hugged Izzy. “Thanks, Izzy,” I say, leaving a kiss on her cheek.

A car ride later and we are back on the jet to go back to Miami. “Mom, I got some crucial information, but it’s going to cost you.”

“How about you tell me, and I keep feeding you and I’ll throw in a walkie-talkie?” I smile and blink at him.

Prince nods, “Sold.”

“So, this is what we know. Nikolai and Aunt Izzy are not a thing…. yet. This is your standard, will they, won’t they.”

“So, you have nothing?” I squint.
