“My name?” She gasps, carefully tracing around the fresh tattoo.
“Of course, wife,” I smirk.
“That’s sick. I can’t wait till I’m older and I can get tattoos,” Prince comments.
In the kitchen, the television was turned on and it was tuned to a news channel. “Daughter of disgraced former Governor Thomas, decides to run for governor! This was the statement she made today.” The news anchor announces. The tv goes to a clip of Maeve speaking, “We, the people of Miami, need to wake up. The mobs are here and alive. Throwing around power and destroying lives! We need to eradicate them. I want to become governor to make sure that no one falls into the hands of those monsters. I know I am risking my life saying this and I may be dead soon, but I want everyone to stop being scared and do what needs to be done. I have nothing left to lose.”
I let out a laugh as Reyna looked at me with an expression of shock.
Chapter 22
Reyna
Kyro sends Prince to his room so that we can speak freely.
“What the fuck happened? What did you say to Rowan?” I sigh.
He shrugs, “Nothing. He’s dramatic. He must have gone to Maeve after I told him I would watch him bleed out on a hook.”
“Are you not worried?” I tug on his hand.
He shakes his head, “No. Why would I be?” He pauses, “Reyna, I’m not arrogant. I know what I can get away with and what I can’t. Normally I would have never met up with Rowan because I couldn’t care less about whathewants, but I don’t know him very well and I wanted to see how he reacts to the things I say. He’s too emotional. Which is good because I can predict what he will do. Right now, he’s trying to build a case against me. The balls on this guy after he almost pulled a gun on me.”
“He what?!” I snap. “He pulled a gun on you?!”
Kyro gave me one of his phones and I read the texts sent to him. “The deputy chief informed me fifteen minutes before I got here that he opened the case after our meeting. The hospital fired Maeve, due to her father being famously fired for being a pedophile. She has nothing to lose.”
“They fired her. Because of her dad?” Damn, that’s crazy.
“The hospital didn’t want the unwanted attention, but she’s more than wealthy. She will be fine, but she must be pissed and blames me.”
“It’s not your fault her dad is a pedophile.” I scoff.
“That’s true. If I get her job back, she’ll probably take it back. If not, oh well.” He shrugs again. “But that pig is something else. He needs a demotion.”
“What are you going to do?” I ponder.
Will he punish Maeve as well? Or just Rowan? Kyro looks and smirks. “Share a video.”
“A video? Of what?” I furrow my brows.
Kyro’s hand wraps around my waist. “A civilian being harassed by a power-tripping cop,” Kyro answers.
“And I guess I’m stuck talking to Maeve again?” I glare.
Kyro smiles. “No, I have something better for you to do.”
“Like?” I press.
“Torturing the rest of the pigs who hurt those girls.” I smiled at his answer.
“Will you watch?” My arms were wrapped around his neck.
Kyro leaves kisses along my shoulder. “Of course, the idea of it is making me hard already.”
I scoffed at his answer. “Truly a monster.”
Kyro takes a breath and looks straight at me with a serious expression. “Nikolai called me. That guy is back in New York. “
