“Damn, sorry.” She pats my back.

I exhale, “It’s fine. If it’s not meant to be, then it isn’t.”

“It’s only been half a year, and you want a baby already? You trying to trap your husband?” She snickers.

It makes me genuinely laugh, “Fuck you.”

She gags, “Sorry, not into girls, but I know a dark-haired, blue-eyed Russian that would eat you up.”

“You do? Is he rich? Set it up. I’ll even bring Kyro.” I joke.

“Fuck that, ‘cause I’m already on that gringo’shit list.” She yawns on the loveseat that sits against the wall.

This new bathroom is bigger than the old one, despite the house being a bit cozier. The bathroom has navy blue walls; the tub is pearl white. The shower is pretty sizable as well. The stone walls in the shower are smooth to the touch. My hand rests on them as I step into the shower.

“You need a job or a hobby. Staying home and waiting for your husband to come home has to be driving you insane.”

“Sometimes,” I shout over the sounds of the water crashing onto the ground.

“What kind of job would you want?”

I sigh, “Not sure. I’ve never been a girl to plan her life. I’ve always just gone with the flow. I’ve never been enthusiastic about anything outside of Ivan and being a mother.”

“Wow, my catholic mother would be so proud of you.” Izzy sarcastically praises.

“No, your mom is a fucking piece of work. She needs to leave your abusive dad already and take your brother with her.”

Izzy scoffs, “She won’t because she says divorce is a sin. So, she wants to stay in this abusive relationship so she can get into heaven or some shit. Who fucking knows?”

“I can’t believe your dad isn’t in jail yet.” I scoff.

“The priest is living a cozy life with all that tax-free money. Nonprofit my ass.” She laughs. “Whatever. Karma has everyone’s address, even those who hide in God’s home.”

I wash the soap off my body and step out of the shower. “He’ll get what’s coming to him for sure.” I clear my throat as I grab a brush and detangle my hair.

Izzy, with her big sister instincts, walks over to me and grabs the brush. She makes me sit on the loveseat in my towel while she brushes out the knots in my hair.

The door suddenly opens, and Kyro is standing there with Prince. Prince is holding beautiful pink roses.

“Mom, I got you flowers.” He runs over and gives them to me.

“Thank you, cutie.” I praise my son’s chivalry.

I hug my son, but he groans, “Mom, your towel is still wet.”

“Oh,” I laugh, “My bad.” Prince runs out of the bathroom.

I look over at Kyro. He walks over and kisses me. He greets Izzy and then asks, “Going somewhere?”

“Maybe. Thinking of having a girl’s night.” My fingers twiddle with the roses.

Kyro looks at his watch. “Have fun. Just make sure to take security with you. Six cars at least.” He looks over at Izzy. “Before you go, Izzy, do you mind if I have a minute with my wife?”

“Sure, I need to get ready, too. I’ll be back in an hour or so.” Izzy says as she puts the brush on the sink and walks out of our bathroom.

As I look into Kyro’s eyes, he seems…uneasy. “What’s wrong?” I got up.

He doesn’t answer, his eyes close for a moment. His breathing slows, and his hand pulls slightly at the top of his hair. I don’t know what to say. I drop my towel to the side and hug my husband. My arms wrapped tightly around him. His body is beyond tense and it’s scaring me.
