After I graduated from the program, we decided to keep a place there, though we spend most of our time in Kentucky. Cash and Johnny are determined to turn Adeline into a town with a diverse, accepting population, and we’d all decided to keep our crew together to keep taking down hate organizations.

Though, thanks to that bracelet Jeb and I found in that awful shed, we’ve expanded our focus to human trafficking as well, and are working even more closely with Archie Hendrix and his covert organization.

Jeb and I will be spending another summer road tripping and crime spreeing together to help both causes.

But first, I planned this little trip to Santa Fe and arranged for Jeb to meet me at a mountaintop bar with a particular view I want him to see.

He comes striding through the doors to the outside bar, and as usual, every person on the patio can’t help but look at him.

I can’t blame them. He’s more beautiful than the scenery.

It’s not just his looks, but the way he walks into a room, a gleam in his eye that says he wants to have some fun and share it with everyone around him.

He looks out at the view. “Nice,” he comments and leans down to kiss me. As usual, the kiss morphs into more and it’s hard to pull away from him.

Jeb orders us avocado margaritas and we snack onQuesoand chips while he tells me about some of the sights he wants us to see on our road trip.

“Oh yeah,” he says, almost vibrating in his seat from excitement. “There’s this three story, inside out stained glass planetary globe in Boston that you can walk around in that we really need to check out.”

As usual I can’t help catching Jeb’s enthusiasm. “The Christian Science Monitor’s Mapparium. I’ve always wanted to see that.”

“Then it’s definitely on the list.” He picks up my hand and encloses it in his own while his thumb absently runs across the sensitive skin on my wrist sending zaps of pleasure through me. That spark of danger, I’ve come to love gleams in his sexy blue eyes while he watches me squirm in my seat. If I didn’t have my surprise for Jeb already planned, I’d let him drag me back to our hotel suite— if we managed to get that far.

Lately, Jeb has introduced me to the shocking pleasure of sex in public places. Just last week he jammed the lock to a bathroom at a bar in Greenwich Village and fucked me up against the door as a line of annoyed New Yorkers pounded on the other side of it to get in.

Though I know deep down Jeb is an expert tactician and would never let us get caught—he’s far too possessive for that—something about the illicit threat of being discovered turns me into a wild heathen who loses all sense of propriety.

I sometimes can’t believe this is my life. Not much more than a year ago, I was a reclusive, touch starved hacker who was slowly breaking from the guilt I felt for my family’s deaths and the burden of my one-man mission to save the world. But then a cocky, golden haired thief swaggered into my life and both charmed and annoyed me out of my isolation and then stole my body and my heart.

The sound of a whistle blows drawing our attention to the wide vista in front of us. A train comes into view as it travels across a thin bridge of tracks that makes it look almost like it’s flying through the air.

“I wouldn’t mind taking a ride on that sometime,” Jeb comments.

We can do better than that.

I nod at the train. “Vasili Pechenkin just bought the train company that runs the Sante Fe line.”

“Isn’t that the Russian dude you said was targeting Ukrainian refugees?”

“That’s the one.” I turn to him, and leaning in. “He’s an evil man.”

“I’m guessing he’s our next target?” He takes a sip of his margarita. “What’s your plan of attack?”

I nod to the train. “Have you heard about the time Jebediah Ezekiel Jones robbed the train?” I lean in and kiss the love of my life and then pull back to see the excitement dancing in his eyes. “It’s gonna be legendary.”

The End
