“I don’t. But I also knew you’d probably try to knee me in the balls, and I like my balls, thank you very much.”

I can’t help it. My lips twitch.

He points at me. “Is that a smile I see?”

I instantly frown. “No. I was just thinking about how amusing it would be to knee you in the balls.”

“That’s my girl. Just as violent as I am.”

I snort. “You wish. And I’m not your girl.”

“Not yet.”

I wave my dress at him. It looks grody, but it’s the only piece of clothing I have. “I need to get dressed.”

“Do you?” He smiles. “Because I think you in just a towel is a much better look.”

“And I think you with a black eye is a much better look, personally.”

He frowns. “A black eye?”

I swing my fist toward his face, but he ducks out of the way, laughing. I stumble forward. Viktor catches me. Damn messed up ankle.

“Nice try, baby. But you’re not going to give me a black eye. I’m too pretty for one.”

I growl. “I’m not your baby, either. Just leave, so I can get dressed.”

“I’ve already seen you naked, so I don’t understand what the problem is.”

“You’re an asshole; that’s the problem.” I hit him with my dress. “Get out.”

He grabs my dress and tugs me closer. “Or what? What are you going to do to stop me?”

“This.” I raise my knee up and hit him in the balls. Viktor grunts and steps away from me, trying not to look like he’s in pain and failing miserably. “There you go. Now, it’s a reality.”

He takes a deep breath, straightening slowly. “Duly noted. I’ll leave you to get dressed.” And he actually walks out of the bathroom. Wow. I was sure he’d spend another ten minutes arguing with me about it. That makes me wary. If Viktor is being aggregable, then what does he have planned?

I slip my dress back on and limp into the bedroom, where Viktor is waiting for me. His eyes rake me up and down. “I should probably get you some new clothes since, you know, you’re going to be here for a while.”

“Don’t remind me. And yes, new clothes would be nice.”

He points at a stain on my dress, right near my heart. “What happened there?”

That stain was the one Lucia gave me when she threw up on me. I couldn’t quite get it out, no matter how hard I scrubbed.

“Babies,” I mutter.

“Ah, liking your new siblings?”

I tense. “How do you know about them?”

He has a look of the cat that ate the canary. “I know everything about your family. I know your father died, leaving you and your siblings to fend for yourselves against the dark forces coming your way. I know your mom gave birth to twins a year ago, even though she couldn’t have gotten pregnant since your father was dead already. So, who’s the real daddy, I wonder?”

Franco’s face flashes through my mind, and I immediately push it away. I’ve always had my suspicions but could never prove it. Mom is adamant the twins are Dad’s kids. Another secret she’s kept from me; I just know it. Another reason she’d have to always side with Franco—she’s in love with him.

Viktor must notice it in my expression because his eyes light up, and he points at me. “Do you know who the real daddy is? Your uncle, perhaps.”

I try to wipe away my expression. I can’t let Viktor have anything against me. “Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk? Because I do.”
