“Ah. Also…” Alice’s gaze drops. She blushes. “He’s waiting for you.”

With a flutter in my chest, I bounce into my office.

JJ waits for me on his knees.

Collar hugging his throat.

Hands behind his back.

Eyes on the door.

“Lilac,” he purrs, lighting up when I appear.

It’s not just his face and eyes that glow. I feel him coming to life. This pure, sweet, melting energy, so unlike the darkness that almost had him strangled.

I slam the door.

Alice is cool, but she doesn’t get to see.

The world can have Jett.

JJ belongs to me.

When I move in front of him, JJ presses his face into my belly. I finger-comb the long hair he left untied for me.

“Missed you,” he murmurs.

“How was today?”

He makes a muffled noise, nuzzling without answering.

I rub his shoulders.

His trauma is worse than just Renee. I’m giving him time to heal before asking for the other names. When he’s not as fragile, the pack’s going to go apeshit in his name.

But not yet.

We all need a lot of therapy before then.

“Comb?” I tug him to my desk.

JJ grabs the silver-plated comb he keeps in my top drawer, then kneels between my knees.

I spend the day stroking his head and screening OCC trainer applications until my cell phone rings.

Hikaru.

He calls a lot since he found out I’m the best candidate for his successor—Wyvern House’s future CFO.

I scoff.

He can’t afford me.

But today he calls back so many times, I’m curious enough to pick up.

Plus, it’s fun to answer when I have his son’s head pillowed between my thighs.

“Hello?”
