Unable to stop myself, my gaze strays down his torso, mouth watering at my first look at his muscular abs flexing and twisting as he moves. Holy body of a god—this dude is seriously ripped. I can’t help it as my eyes continue lower, taking in his very large, hardened cock. Guess someone decided to sleep in the nude.

“My, that’s a very fancy peen you have there,” I say, my mouth gaping open as I see all the piercings.

It’s not quite bright enough in here to see everything, but the little bit of light from the fire glints off barbells that line his thick shaft. I want to count how many there are; feel them on my tongue and in my pussy. A full-body shiver rolls through me as I imagine him stretching me, his Jacobs ladder massaging me with every thrust while the one at his tip hits my G-spot. Yes, please.

Wait. No. He hates me.Hate sex could be fun.

“What are you… Oh,” he chuckles, covering himself and laying back down next to me with our pillow barrier still firmly between us.

“Seriously, he’s so shiny he could be a movie star. I want to make him a top hat. Oh, and a monocle,” I continue, beginning to feel a bit more like myself after the dream. “If he could speak, he would say ‘Top of the morning’ to you in an accent.”

Cole lays his head on one of our barrier pillows, and I do the same. His mouth is just inches from mine, so close that if I wiggled forward just a little, we would kiss. But before I can do something stupid, he brings a hand up to stroke his fingers over my cheek, thumb sliding back and forth across my lips. Oh, that feels amazing.

“I don’t think he would have an accent,” he jokes, playing along with a slight grin on his face. His scent hits me then, masculine and soothing, and I can feel my body calm further. My weight sags into the bed and my muscles relax as he continues his caress. My eyes become heavier with each passing moment.

“Go back to sleep, Fireball,” he whispers, and moments later I do just that.

The smell of coffee brewing tickles my nose, rousing me from a deep sleep. My eyelids flutter open and my surroundings take shape. Cole is no longer in bed, but I locate him immediately. Watching as he bends down to place another log in the fireplace wearing grey sweatpants that hug his perfect, round ass. He doesn’t have a shirt on and I marvel at all of his muscles. His skin is completely devoid of tattoos except for one along his rib cage; it’s a bit hard to make out at just this moment, but my curiosity is peaked.

A warm body presses against my back, and I roll over, eager to snuggle with Winnie. My face smooshes into her soft fur and she lets out a delighted yip, wiggling all around. I pet her, giving her belly scratches as she flops onto her back, tongue lolling out happily.

Lying there, petting her belly, I feel more content than I have in… well, ever. Dogs just have a way of soothing the soul, and Winnie’s sweet personality is exactly what I need in my life. Maybe I can get Cole to give her to me before we leave this place—but as soon as that thought flits through my head, I realize there is no way that could happen. She works as a Search and Rescue Dog.

But maybe I could too?

“Good morning sleepy head,” Cole says, his voice coming from across the room.

“Good morning,” I mumble, not quite ready to get out of bed yet, too busy enjoying the puppy snuggles.

“Well, I have some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first?” he questions.

“No news,” I grumble, content to stay in my warm blanket cocoon.

“Fireball, you are just a ray of sunshine in the morning,” he teases. And honestly, I’m happy to hear the soft note in his voice, unwilling to have yet another verbal sparring match with him.

“Anyway, good news or bad? I’m going to give you both either way,” he continues. Exhaling a puff of breath, I sit up as it seems he won’t be deterred.

“Fine, just tell me,” I grump as he walks into the little kitchen space.

“How do you like your coffee?” he asks.

“Lots of milk and lots of sugar,” I reply with glee. Fuck black coffee. I’m done with modeling and done with eating and drinking things I hate. Giddiness fills me as Cole, still looking like a god, saunters over with my cup of joy.

“Thank you.”

He hands me the coffee and as our hands brush, a little spark of electricity pulses between us. Shooting through our fingers and straight to my core. Maybe this vacation could be a bit more fun if we spent some time gettingclose,as Cole put it.

Lifting the cup to my lips, the warm liquid is heavenly, the sweet flavor bursting over my tongue. A moan escapes, and Cole’s eyes darken as he watches me swallow the sweet drink. Unable to stop myself, I do it again, watching his nostrils flare.

“So, what’s the news?”

Chapter Nine

Cole

Sloanelooksatme, her silver-grey eyes dancing with cheer, and I can feel myself thawing further. The lightness surrounding her makes me want to do everything I can to keep her spirits up. Last night was a first for me; watching her thrash around and call out for someone named Davis to stop had cracked the wall I kept surrounding my heart. Inch by inch, this beautiful woman is worming her way under my defenses. Her sass, the love she gives to Winnie, and her way of saying whatever comes to mind has me in a tailspin.Fuck,I cannot be considering my worst enemy’s little sister.

Sending him that text last night may have been a mistake. However, luck seems to be on my side this morning.
