“Because it’s none of your fucking business,” I casually tell him, though I feel quite the opposite.

“She’s got rules for you, like you’re dating her or some shit,” he continues, glaring at me as if he can see me but can’t hear me. “I’m supposed to not do drugs in my own fucking house to keep her happy? Nah, man. Someone needs to explain what the fuck is going on. She’s hot, but really? Who the fuck is she?”

Finally… My composure snaps. Gemma is completely gone, leaving nothing but the Ghost and a pissy Jasper behind.

I smile, tapping my fingers on the armchair as I quiet my mind. This isn’t a wasted trip, though it’s unfortunate I have to show Kane more than I’m ready for him to know. We’ll have a lot to talk about on Saturday.

“Nope. Bad idea, Gem,” Riot mutters, but I ignore him as I lock eyes with Kane.

“You should know better than to be around that shit, or does your job mean nothing to you?” I ask, because starting with him is easier. “You’ve been watching him do it and didn’t think to do anything to stop him? Like it’s not enough of a risk to be caught with me. Now you’re overlooking drug consumption, too?”

“I didn’t know,” he argues. “What risk?”

“Didn’t know he was snorting coke on the coffee table in the living room with the blinds open for the world to see?” I inquire.

Quin scoffs. “No one can see us.”

“If I find out that you’ve been giving them drugs…” I lean forward in the chair, giving Quin my full attention. “I will hunt you down in broad daylight and kill you in front of your family.”

“Was that supposed to be a threat, or did you mean for it to be hot?” He whistles low, sober now that his high has faded. “You’re like five-foot nothing. What can you do?”

“Fuck,” Riley drawls under his breath. “Gem, stop looking at him like that.”

“That’s not going to stop him from flirting with you,” Kane grumbles.

Riot snorts. “Neither will a bullet.”

“Whoa.” Quin pats the air. “Wait. That’s a real gun?”

“What gun?” Kane asks.

“What else would it fucking be, you idiot?” Ezra snaps.

“Is this happening right now?” Lory mutters to me. “What have you done?”

I roll my eyes at him.

“Let’s not shoot my brother.” Ezra moves toward me, almost placating, as he holds up his hands in surrender. “He’s a dumbass, but I don’t want him dead-dead. Maybe just beat him up? I’ll help you.”

“You’re asking her to lightly maim me?” Quin tilts his head to the side. “Okay, I’m up for the foreplay. Just avoid my face, gorgeous.”

Ezra hangs his head, defeated.

Lory raises a judgment-filled brow at me.

I contemplate shooting something to make them all shut up.

“How long?” Kane muses to Riley.

“Six feet,” he suggests. “Maybe eight if he pisses her off enough.”

Kane huffs, making me wonder how much more he knows about me than he’s let on.

I stand from the chair, nodding when everyone looks at me like the ticking time bomb. They’re not wrong. I do have a gun in my hand, which I promptly tuck away before I feel the need to shoot the famous guy.

“This is between the brat and me. You guys can go.”

“They can stay,” Quin states.
