“Gianney is a friend of Mark’s.”

Vincenzo held out his hand toward me. “Let's go.”

“Wait. He can help me with my uncle.”

Vincenzo tugged my hand, pulling me away from Gianney’s table. Carter and the rest of the guards stood near the front door as he led me from the restaurant. Embarrassed, I tried to jerk from his grip.

Vincenzo pushed me against the car, pressing his body to mine and blocking my line of sight. “Gianney Greco is a friend of Mark’s, and you never told me you knew him?” he seethed.

“Gianney might be able to help. Can you move?” I pushed against his chest.

He grabbed my hands and nudged my legs apart. My throat tightened and my chest heaved. My arousal was heightened by our intimacy. I didn't want to be attracted to the man who’d killed my boyfriend, but here I was, marrying him out of necessity.

“You want me to move?”

Averted his deep gaze.

Pinching my eyes closed, I counted to five to calm my best friend down. She hadn’t been awake in a while.

“Nyla.” My eyes popped open at my name being called.

“Please, let me handle him,” I begged.

Vincenzo released his hold. I started to walk toward Gianney, but Vincenzo wrapped a hand around my waist, pulling me to his side.

“Are you with him now?” Gianney investigated.

“Gianney, we have to talk about Mark.”

“He killed Mark and you're running around town dating the man that pulled the trigger.” Gianney argued.

“She’s married.” Vincenzo raised my hand up like I was a puppet, and I jerked away.

“Stop it!” I hissed.

“Nyla can’t save you; I know you were in on the robbery,” Vincenzo claimed.

That surprised me, because Gianney and I hadn't talked in a few months.

“He wasn’t there.” I blurted out.

“He’s collaborating with your uncle,” Vincenzo informed me.

I knew Cono and Mark set me up, but I hadn’t discovered that more people were involved. I was still lying to Vincenzo about the board, and Cono wanting stock options.

“I heard he had inside help for the casino robbery; Nyla would know about that, right?” Gianney egged him on.

“All right, you two. Gianney, tell me what you know.”

Gianney walked backwards to his car. “Mark left the details out. He owed a lot of people money.”

“Gianney, wait!” I called out.

Vincenzo held me back from running after him. I shoved his hand away, yanking the door open. Vincenzo hovered over me, leaning against my ear. “Our marriage isn’t for love, but you won’t disrespect me in public.”

A few seconds later, he glanced into my eyes, his lips just a few feet away. I wanted to kiss him or push him away, but my mind and heart couldn't decide.

After pulling back without a kiss, I regarded him in a daze, as he stalked to the other side of the car, daring me not to get in with him. One part of me wanted to continue fighting, and another felt aroused by how he handled me.
