She glances over at her cup of coffee. Okay, so maybe it’s not the wine. She hasn’t had any today. It’s probably the books. Damn things are putting ideas in her head and Nick is sliding in to the fantasies.

Why can’t he slide in to her?

She grimaces as that thought pops into her mind. When did she turn into a horny, sex mad woman, thinking about having all kinds of dirty sex with a man she barely knows?

A seriously attractive, insanely built man.

And it’s not even like he’s shown any interest in her. She doubts she’s his type.

She’d only ever had sex with men she was in a relationship with. As in a long term relationship. If she had sex with Nick, it would be what? A one night stand? Maybe a two night stand?

Maybe they’d spend the next few days naked and sweaty in her bed going from orgasm to orgasm.

She shuffles around in the chair, glaring at the words on the page of her book. Like that’s a helpful thought.

Why couldn't he have packed a pair of unflattering flannel pyjamas? Anything other than sleeping on her couch dressed like he is, looking all hot. It’s not fair. And not helping her calm down in the slightest.

He really is quite a sight, all hard muscle and tattoos. He’s so far out of her league. And he’s injured. Not badly, but she doubts he’d be up for anything physical.

But she could... what exactly?

March over to the couch and throw herself at him? She’s not like that. As much as she’d love to have the confidence to do that, she can’t.

She also can’t sit here and stare at the same page of her book all day. Maybe she’ll get lunch ready. Anything is better than sitting and lusting over him. As she passes the window, she stops and tries to see where Nick is. But there’s nothing visible through the snow.

Maybe he left? Maybe he took this as his chance to escape from the woman who is quite clearly leering at him.

She’s just dishing up lunch when he comes back inside, shaking the snow off his coat. At least he came back, but, with the snow storm outside, there aren’t many places he can go.

‘You must have a fantastic sense of smell. Lunch is just ready.’

He leans against the front door, staring over at the fire, lost in his thoughts as he takes off his snow covered boots.

‘Nick?’

He lifts his head and she could swear his eyes are changing colour. ‘Sorry?’

‘Is everything okay?’

He seems to shake himself out of his thoughts and smiles at her. ‘Yeah. Sorry, I was miles away.’

‘I’ve made lunch. It’s just soup and bread. Hope that’s okay?’

‘That sounds amazing. Thanks.’

He pours them both a coffee then sits down, his attention on the view out the window behind her. ‘Did you find anything?’

He shakes his head as he takes a bite of bread.

‘I’m sorry.’ She has no idea what she’s apologising for. He just looks so lost, she wanted to say something.

Nick shakes his head again and smiles. ‘No, Scarlett. I’m sorry. I’m being rude. I didn’t find anything. I’ll have to wait until the snow stops. I can barely see my fucking hand in front of my face. I don’t know what I was expecting to find in the first place.

‘I just... I wish I knew what happened. One minute I was minding my own business and the next...’ He lifts his hand, holding it level then swoops down slamming it on to the table. ‘Boom!’

‘You were flying?’

He gives her a strange look, then smiles. ‘Just being dramatic. Of course I wasn’t flying.’
