“And what's he gonna do?”

“You know he's gonna try to get Kennedy back from us.”

“I hate to say it,” Carter said quietly. “But maybe we need to take care of Greyson. Permanently.”

I swore.

Jack shook his head.

“Come on,” Carter said in exasperation. “Because you were besties in kindergarten, you've got some kind of undying loyalty to him?”

“I mean, it's a pretty low bar of loyalty. I just won't murder him,” I said dryly. “And anyway, you were just talking about staying clean and not doing crimes, not being unworthy of Kennedy. No matter how we feel about the asshole at this point, Kennedy loved him. She loves him now. We can't take that away from her. Not...forever. What if she found out?”

“Well, I don't think she's gonna take it very well if she ever realizes Sebastian burnt down her apartment building either.” Carter grabbed a spray bottle and began to clean the enormous granite island, even though it was already spotless. Usually, I liked it when my roommate rage cleaned.

Carter's cell phone chimed. He pulled it out of his pocket and took a look, then said, “It’s for you.”

He tossed it to me, and I caught it.

Greyson:Tell Sebastian there’s a lot more at stake than juvie these days.

“So, he knows,” Carter said.

“I’d love to text him back a photo of Kennedy in my bed,” I said. “But I need her to stay asleep.”

The phone chimed again.

You can pretend, but you three never changed your roots.

“Fair enough,” I said, sliding the cell phone back across the island to Carter. “I never changed my roots. I was obsessed with Kennedy when we were kids, and I’m obsessed with her now.”

“I couldn’t stand her being with Greyson,” Jack admitted. “This is for the best. She’ll be here with us, where we can keep her safe and protected.”

“He’ll try to get her back,” Carter reminded us.

“So it’s war,” I said. “That’s fine. I’m ready to fight for her…the way we should have five years ago.”

“Dramatic bastard,” Carter muttered, as if he hadn’t been ready to murder someone earlier tonight.

All of us had been losing our shit about Greyson taking Kennedy. I’d just done something about it.

And now…the spoils of war.

I slid into bed beside her, tucking the blankets carefully around her still form. She let out a happy sigh as she snuggled close to me.

I’d burn the whole world down for this girl.

When I came down to breakfast the next morning, there was a gold wrapped box-- a big one-- sitting on the big granite island. I glanced at it curiously, sure that it was for me, knowing these men. But I didn't want to assume.

Then Sebastian caged me against the island, his big arms braced on either side of me. The hard edge of the counter brushed my belly, but his big dick pressed urgently against me through his sweatpants. It seemed even harder than the granite island.

“I got you a little something,” he told me quietly, his voice low and sexy as he spoke into my ear.

“You shouldn't have,” I said.

“I should do what I want,” he returned. “And that includes spoiling you. Now open your present.”
