That question was asked in a louder, clearer voice than before. It wasn’t a question that was just for me.

“You don’t have a habit of making things better, Greyson,” Carter told him.

“Or keeping her safer,” Sebastian said under his breath.

Greyson pulled away from me. “Last time I checked, she was under your protection, and has been every time she's gotten hurt. But I guess you can’t send a boy to do a man’s job.”

“Really?” Sebastian gave him a dismissive look. “That’s your best insult?”

Carter crossed his arms defensively. "Can we focus? We have things to discuss."

"Like how you plan on keeping her safe?" Greyson shot back, a mocking edge to his tone. "Since you’re so desperate to keep her away from me? Are you planning on abandoning her again like you did before?"

"Watch your mouth," Sebastian growled, stepping forward. "We will never give her up again. We're going to keep her safe.."

"Is that right?" Greyson smirked, unfazed by Sebastian's aggression. "Because from where I'm standing, it seems like I'm the only one who's been there for her all these years."

The four of them erupted into an argument. It felt like they barely noticed I was there.

No onehad been there for me. Greyson had apparently searched for me. But I’d been on my own.

And for five years, until I stumbled across the four of them, I’d been safe.

Safe. Hidden. And lost, a stranger to my own life.

These men were the key to getting my past back, if only they would stop fighting and work together. If they would choose me over their pride, their arguments, and the challenges of a future where we didn’t all fit together.

"Please," I whispered, tears welling in my eyes.

To my surprise, they heard me over the sounds of their own bullshit. All four of them turned toward me, their brows crinkling. Greyson reached for me, and Carter did at the same time.

"Don't fight over me,” I said softly, holding my hands up to keep the two of them from touching me. I wanted their comfort…but I needed them to listen.

"Listen to me," I pleaded, choking on the emotions that threatened to overwhelm me. "I need all four of you to help me unlock my memories. You were all a part of my life before, and I loved each and every one of you."

My voice trembled as I continued. "Pieces of my memories…I think they’re bound up with all four of you. Ineedall four of you. And some of those memories…they’re of the five of us together, right? If you can be…”

Sebastian sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "Kennedy, we want to make you happy. We want to help...But our friendships...they're too fractured to ever fix. And Greyson—" He broke off, glaring at the man in question.

"Greyson may not be the man I grew up with at all," Jack admitted, his eyes locked on mine. "But if Kennedy thinks that us working together will make things right…we should try, shouldn’t we?”

"Thank you," I whispered.

I still felt so confused and upset. But at least it was a little bit of hope.

Jack gave me a small smile.

“That sounds great,” Carter said. “How’s that really going to work? Greyson, you want to move in and sleep on the couch?”

“My house actually has enough guest rooms for you all,” Greyson said coolly. “If you can be trusted.”

Sebastian scoffed. “I’m not the one with the history of—”

“No, you’re just the one with the history of setting fires,” Greyson returned. “I’d hate for my home to go up in flames when you get peevish, pyro.”

Horror clutched my chest.

Sebastian had set the fire that terrified me so much?
