I was still trying to wrap my head around that fact.

I started to skate. I’d been on this ice so many times, I didn’t have to even think about it anymore. So I could stare at her instead of where I was going. The world around us faded away, and it was just Kennedy and me, lost in the moment.

I pulled her even closer, our bodies pressed together as closely as they could get. Our breaths mingled in the frosty air, and I could feel the heat of her body through our layers of clothing.

And then I couldn’t help it. I had to kiss her. I leaned in slowly, giving her a chance to move away if she wanted. I grazed her lips, once, twice…shivers sliding down my back, my dick hardening because apparently just kissing her got me hard. She gasped and my mouth closed over hers in a supple kiss. I gently slid my tongue into her mouth, groaning at how good she tasted. I don’t know how long we kissed.

I just knew it was the best fucking kiss of my life.

Finally, I forced myself to break away. I could have done that forever, but we couldn’t exactly stand in the middle of the rink for the whole day.

She was smiling shyly as I set her down.

“Wow,” she whispered.

I kissed the tip of her nose, noting how cold it was.

“Wow is right,” I commented. “Now let’s get you warm, baby.”

I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the exit.

“You’re getting the hang of it, by the way,” I told her.

“I really am,” she said excitedly. And I had to stop and kiss her again, because now that I’d broken the seal so to speak, it was going to be really hard to stop.

I dragged myself out of memory lane, continuing to stare at myself in the mirror. They were doing a tour of the facilities for the donors and the women who had participated in the auction. I needed to get back out there—get back to Kennedy. I’d just needed a moment to get ahold of myself. Spending half a million for one date was the least that I would do to spend time with her. I felt feral, like all that time without her had done something to me, made me more animal than man when it came to her. I was trying to play it cool, but fuck, it was hard.

That fucking dress. That fucking body.

She was perfect.

The group was heading into the locker room when I rejoined them, Jack and Sebastian taking turns flirting with her as one of the employees from the team’s media department droned on about our “state of the art” facilities.

I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her away from my two best friends.

“Mine,” I teased.

“You suck,” said Sebastian. I lifted an eyebrow, and he huffed. I knew for a fact he’d come to practice smelling like Kennedy the other day. Because he’d proceeded to torture us with how good her hand had felt wrapped around his dick.

I may or may not have punched him afterwards.

And Jack, Mr. Sunshine himself, had been in a mood ever since then. He was glaring at me like he was imagining my murder.

So I winked at him. To cheer him up, of course.

Sebastian and Jack stalked off to schmooze the donors, leaving me with Kennedy as we trailed behind the crowd.

“Carter,” she said suddenly, anxiety threaded through her voice. “You really should get some of your money back. I know it's for charity. But I can’t—”

I pressed her against the lockers, faintly aware of the far door slamming shut as the last of the group exited the room.

Kennedy went silent, her eyes wide and confused.

“I think I told you, baby…Worth. Every. Penny.” She gulped and I pressed against her, letting her feel the raging hard on that I’d had since I’d seen her in that dress. She was still in it, and I wanted to rip it off her, unveil those gorgeous tits.

Fuck.

“Carter,” she whispered.
