She reached up to cup his cheek. “Oh, King…”

“I asked the reaper if I could make a deal with him to protect you, the pack, and the firehouse, but he told me I didn’t need to. Everyone was already protected.”

Her brows furrowed, then her eyes widened with understanding. “Because of Paul! Of course, it has to be because of Paul. Devlin must be protecting him to pay him back for losing his arm to save him, which probably means he has been protecting the entire Bazin pack.”

“He didn’t explain it to me, but after hearing what you said, that would be my guess as well. Demons take life debts very seriously. The pack is protected because of Paul, and the fire station is most likely protected because of Huxley. Devlin is probably helping you figure out your new powers because you were able to give Paul his arm back. You relieved him of that obligation. By the way, I still can’t believe you were able to do that.” He laughed and shook his head. “You truly are amazing.”

“I still don’t understand my revenge powers very well,” she admitted. “Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.”

“Don’t worry. You have time to figure everything out.”

“King, I…” She worried her lower lip before saying, “I know what happened to you. I saw it in one of my revenge visions.”

His chest felt tight as he asked, “So, you know I’m innocent?”

“I’ve always known that. I have never believed you were guilty. But now I know who set you up.” She paused before admitting, “It was your youngest brother, Jeremiah.”

Kingston closed his eyes to let her words sink in.

He’d always suspected one of his brothers had been behind the entire scheme, but hearing it confirmed left him feeling conflicted. As the oldest of the three brothers, it had always been clear that Kingston would take over Spencer Financial when their grandfather retired. Wesley was the next in line, so it had been easy to assume he had set Kingston up to get him out of the way.

Wesley had always been a hothead, and he and Kingston had competed over a lot of things over the years. Magic skills, cars, girls. If they could fight over it, they did. It was a lot harder to believe their quiet, unassuming, peacekeeping younger brother would be capable of such deceit, but Kingston trusted Autumn without hesitation.

If she said it was Jeremiah, then it was him.

Finally knowing which one of his brothers had set him up made him sad and angry, but he also felt as if a weight had finally been lifted off his shoulders.

“Thank you for telling me.”

“That…that’s it?” She blinked at him. “That’s all you have to say?”

He shrugged. “I’ve always suspected it was one of my brothers, but now that we know for sure, we still have to think of a way to prove it to the Supernatural Council. I don’t think they will just take your word for it, even if you are a goddess.”

She made a disgruntled sound that he thought was cute as fuck.

“I have to assume that Jeremiah also has a plan to get rid of Wesley when the time is right. Otherwise, there was no point in doing what he did to me.”

Autumn slowly nodded. “He’s been feeding the animosity between your grandfather and Wesley over the years. Your grandfather still believes you might be innocent and there is a chance Wesley could have been the one to set you up. I couldn’t see his plans for the future, but I do know that if Jeremiah isn’t named the new head of the business when the time comes, he has a few potential plans to get rid of both your brother and your grandfather.”

He shook his head sadly. “All this scheming, and for what? He has all the money, power, and prestige he could ever want to live several lifetimes in luxury. I just don’t understand why he did it.”

“I don’t know, either. I guess that’s something we’ll have to ask him.”

“I think I need some time to let all of this settle in my mind, so we can worry about that later.” He pulled her against him and brushed his lips against hers. “Thank you for telling me. Right now, I need a distraction. Luckily, I thought of the perfect one.”

“Oh?”

“I want to taste you, mate. I think it’s only fair since it’s my turn. I have three years’ worth of need to make up for.”

She lifted a brow and sent him a haughty look. “Whose fault is that?”

“There’s my mouthy goddess.” He tore the blankets away and pushed her down until she was lying flat on her back. “Now, be good, and let me have my fun.”

“But I…”

Autumn’s breath caught as he jerked her legs apart and settled his big body between them. Without warning, he buried his face against her and sucked hard on her clit. The intensity of the pleasure she felt made her body buck, but he easily held her in place with his firm grip. He flicked his tongue against the hard nub over and over again until her breath came out in short, choppy pants.

“King!”
