The other males smiled in welcome at their sudden appearance, but their words of greeting got stuck in their throats. Their eyes widened, and their jaws dropped open in collective shock.

“Oh, hell,” Huxley groaned. “Not you, too. The glowing eyes are just freaky.”

Kingston grinned at his friend. “Call it a side effect of being mated to a goddess.”

Thayer cleared his throat. “Fuck, it’s going to take some time getting used to seeing your eyes glowing like lightbulbs.”

“Tell me about it,” Kingston deadpanned. “I scared myself by looking at a mirror this morning.”

“So, does this make you the God of Revenge?” Declan asked.

“Hell, no,” Kingston denied quickly. “That is Autumn’s title alone.”

Autumn slapped at his chest playfully. “You don’t have to sound so appalled. You are a god now, too, whether you like it or not.”

“All of these different levels of godhood and immortality are confusing as fuck,” Murphy complained.

“That’s why you need to go to one of the magical academies after you graduate,” Huxley pointed out. “You need to learn that shit.”

Murphy scoffed. “You didn’t.”

“That’s because I was able to get an exemption. That won’t work for the two of you.”

Most supernaturals were considered underage unless they graduated from one of the magical academies. That rule had been made to make sure people had control of their powers before they officially entered the magical community. Exceptions to that rule were alpha shifters or anyone whose magical abilities weren’t strong enough to meet the basic requirements, like Autumn had been before she’d become a god.

Huxley had tested as a true alpha, but he’d somehow managed to hide most of the water magic he’d inherited from his fae mother. Because of that, he’d been allowed to skip attending a magical academy. He naturally depended more on his shifter abilities anyway, but his water magic did come in handy as a firefighter. Still, he had absolutely no interest in going to one of the magical academies, and his mother had trained him well in his own abilities, so it hadn’t been necessary.

His brother Aidan had inherited his mother’s strong healing abilities, as well as his father’s ability to shift, which meant he had been required to attend a magic school. Luckily, Trifecta University also had an excellent medical program, so he’d been able to do both at the same time.

Declan and Murphy would both be required to attend a magical academy after they graduated from high school. Besides being shifters, Declan had strong healing abilities, while Murphy had exceptional water magic. So far, Murphy was also the only one of the siblings who was currently able to teleport, but that was an advanced skill that took a lot of effort and practice to learn.

“Damn it, I guess this means you will be leaving the department,” Thayer grumbled.

Kingston nodded. “I am. I’m going to be helping Autumn with her revenge projects from now on.”

When it came down to priorities, he would rather stay with Autumn and help her master her new powers of revenge. He liked the idea of helping her seek retribution for people who couldn’t do so for themselves. Besides that, he craved being with her even more now that they were fully bonded.

“I will definitely come help you guys out if you need me, though. Just call me, and I’ll be there.”

Huxley sighed. “That could be a problem. We left you dozens of texts before I remembered that Tumi nuked her phone with her new powers the other day.”

“I forgot about that.” She winced as she glanced up at Kingston. “Phones won’t work for us anymore. Our magic seems to break them the moment we touch them.”

“Ah, that sucks.”

“I know,” she said with a deep sigh. “I never realized how hard it was going to be to live without one until this happened. It’s like being totally disconnected from everything.”

“Shit, maybe it’s a good thing you are quitting. You could fuck up all of our gadgets back at the firehouse, and if you break my video game systems, I may have to hurt you,” Thayer quipped.

Autumn rolled her eyes. “I would think the fire trucks would be a little more important than your video games.”

Thayer flashed her a wide grin. “They are both important in my world.”

She laughed. “Whatever. Are you guys coming in or not? I’m hungry, so let’s go back to the cottage and have lunch.”

“Let’s go, then,” Huxley agreed. “I don’t think we can afford for the Goddess of Revenge to be hangry.”

Declan and his twin scrambled out of their tent, both of them grinning. “Can we—”
