“No, you are not moving in with us,” Kingston cut them off with a laugh. “But you can come visit.”

Instead of walking back through the multiple layers of magical wards, Kingston used his magic to teleport their little group directly back to the treehouse. Instead of going inside to eat, they opted to sprawl out on the cushioned benches on one of the covered decks near the tiered waterfalls. There was a square, stone fireplace in the center, and Kingston lit it with a thought.

He'd created the fire like he usually did, but this time, it had barely taken any effort. As a fire demon, calling the flames was a natural ability he’d been born with. However, with his new god powers, it was almost too easy. He made a mental note to be more careful, or he could end up setting a fucking city on fire or something.

When the twins begged to go inside to use the restroom, Autumn opened the front door for them with a flick of her wrist.

Huxley shook his head after they ran inside. “You know they are going to be in there for hours.”

“I figured as much,” she said with a little laugh. “They’re just curious, so let them have their fun exploring.”

“At least they can’t get into our bedroom,” Kingston muttered.

Thayer’s brow lifted. “You have magical wards inside, too? Bro, isn’t that, like, overkill?”

Kingston shrugged. “My goddess created a safe space for us. And there are no doors to our bedroom, so the twins would have to know exactly where it is located to be able to get in there.”

“That’s smart…and paranoid,” Thayer said.

“Devlin made the suggestion,” Autumn explained. “Since the reaper has lived longer than all of us combined, I figured it is worth listening to whatever advice he has to give. Now, what does everyone want to eat? Making food seems to be one of the god powers that comes pretty easy to me.”

After everyone rattled off their requests for lunch, she used her magic to provide a feast for them to enjoy.

Once they started eating, Kingston shared a look with his mate before announcing, “Autumn was able to figure out who framed me.”

“Who?” Thayer growled.

“It was my brother, Jeremiah.”

“That little bastard!” Enraged, Thayer jumped to his feet and began pacing on the deck, stomping back and forth as he waved his hands in the air. “I know you’ve always suspected it was Wes, but something about Jeremiah set my alarm bells ringing.”

Intrigued, Kingston said, “You never told me that.”

“I know I only met him once at the Firemen’s Ball last year, but he was just too nice. Too quiet. Face it, King. No offense, but your blood family is a bunch of spoiled, rich assholes. You included. At least, you were until you spent some time away from them. Prison did you some good.”

“Gee, thanks, you bastard.”

Thayer grinned. “It’s true.”

“I have to agree,” Huxley said. “I know acting superior is normal for most high-ranking demon families. What isn’t normal is for the pampered little brother of a powerful family to be so damn nice and careful not to offend anyone. In my book, that is a warning sign that he is hiding something.”

“Exactly,” Thayer said, pointing a finger at him.

Kingston had never thought of it that way. He’d always assumed Jeremiah had acted that way as a result of losing their parents at such a young age. But looking back, it did seem odd that he could be so reserved when the rest of them were arrogant assholes. It showed he had too much control, or that he’d been hiding something.

“Let’s go grab the fucker,” Huxley said, rising from his seat as if he planned to go grab Jeremiah that very second.

“We can’t,” Kingston countered, waving him back down. “We need proof, and we don’t have that yet.”

“Can’t Autumn just tell them what she knows?” Thayer asked.

She shook her head. “I doubt they will listen to me. I know the truth because I saw it in one of my revenge visions, but I can’t exactly share everything I saw with them. The Supernatural Council is convinced he’s guilty, so we need something that will prove that he’s not.”

“Okay, how do we do that?” Huxley asked.

“We haven’t figured that part out yet, but we will.”

And when they did, Autumn silently vowed that those who had wronged her mate would pay in blood.
