“Because once this matter is finally resolved, Jeremiah will no longer be my brother. He will be dead to me, whether he’s still breathing at the end of this or not.” He paused before saying, “My brothers and I might be related by blood, but we have never been very close. Still, I never would have guessed my youngest brother was a fucking monster.”

Kingston had seen the revenge vision Autumn had gotten about him through their bond, so he knew exactly how Jeremiah had managed to pull off framing him. Seeing it had shown him just how wrong he’d been about his youngest brother. Kingston wasn’t sure if he was a sociopath or simply greedy. Jeremiah enjoyed wearing a mask and fooling everyone around him. He liked proving he was smarter by playing these horrible games, but his reign of malicious mischief would soon be coming to an end.

“I understand. Sometimes our relatives turn out to be worse than strangers. Blood relations don’t always matter when it comes to being a real family. Blood ties are sometimes used to force people to stay together, while others who create their own families are bonded together with the strength of tempered steel.”

Kingston rubbed his cheek against her hair. “We can’t pick our blood relatives, but we can choose the people we want to call family. Luckily, fate brought you to me.”

“Actually, I think we have to thank Thayer and Hux for dragging you to the Bazin pack. Otherwise, who knows how long it would have taken for us to meet.”

“I’ll make sure to thank them later,” he promised. “Speaking of shitty relatives, I can’t wait to meet your biological father so I can punch that lying, cheating fuckhead in his fucking face.”

“I can’t wait to see that,” she said with a decidedly wicked snicker.

The silence lulled between them for a moment, then he sighed. “I thought coming back here after getting out of prison would make me angry.”

She turned around in his arms so she could look at him and read the truth in his eyes. “Are you?”

He slowly shook his head as he reached up to stroke a hand over her hair. “It’s nice to be back, especially since you are with me.”

“I would have liked to see you running around here when you were younger.”

“You wouldn’t have liked me very much if you had met me back then.”

“If I had met you back then, I would have just fallen in love with you sooner.”

Kingston leaned down and kissed her, overwhelmed by his love for her. Meeting her had been the best thing that had ever happened to him. It made every bad moment he had suffered through worth it because it had brought him to where he was right now, with her.

Loving Autumn was the reason he had been born.

She was his joy, his heart…his everything.

Lifting her into his arms, he carried her back into the bedroom. He laid her on the bed and followed her down, blanketing her body with his own. Missing the ambiance of their bedroom back in the Human Realm, he used his magic to change the black stone ceiling into a magical glass roof that gave them a clear view of the outside world. While the room looked pretty basic with nothing but shades of black and gray, the colorful night sky added light and life to the room.

“In all the years I fantasized about having a mate, I’d never been able to imagine someone as perfect as you.”

“I am far from perfect, mate,” she said with a little laugh.

“You are perfect for me,” he countered. “You are everything I have ever wished for. Everything I have ever needed, even if I didn’t realize it. You are my lifeline, my little goddess. I’ve been holding onto you so tight because I’m worried everything will fall apart if I let go. It’s why I keep my mind merged with yours all the time. I fear going back to the shadows, of facing the loneliness that I lived with before I met you.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. “I’m not bothered about our minds being merged all the time. In fact, I prefer it that way, too. I guess I have my own abandonment issues to deal with and knowing that you are with me all the time makes me happy. You make me happy. I love you, Kingston.”

“I love you, too, Autumn. So damn much,” he whispered. “It’s like I’ve been waiting for you my entire life.”

Her smile was as bright as starlight, even as tears shimmered in her eyes. “It’s the same for me. And now that I’m with you, I finally feel like I’m exactly where I belong. I will be with you…always and forever.”

Kingston kissed her to seal the promise between their lips. He felt her light and love filling him, and his heart leaped with joy inside his chest. He’d wanted to love her slow and sweet, to give her soft kisses and gentle strokes, but he couldn’t wait. He never could when they came together.

His body felt like was on fire, making it impossible to think past the inferno of lust careening through his system. Since he knew she was suffering from the same desperate need he was feeling, he used his magic to make their clothes disappear without breaking their kiss. His hands stroked down her back, loving the feeling of her silky-smooth skin beneath his palms. He loved the way she responded to his touch, and it nearly drove him out of his mind when she squirmed against him in a silent plea for more.

They both groaned when he slid into her, and her nails scored down his back as they began to move as one. Hands stroked over heated skin, and their mouths fused together in frenzied kisses. They came together in a storm of passion and pleasure, and breathless moans turned into delighted laughter as they rolled across the bed in a playful struggle for dominance.

She whispered his name as she shuddered from a fast, hard climax, but it wasn’t enough. He needed more. He made her come two more times before he finally let go, following her over the edge. As the flames of release consumed them both, their god powers burst out of them in a brilliant display of light so bright it rivaled the sun.

Their love was pure magic.

And as their bond renewed, they rejoiced in the knowledge that they would never be alone again.
