Lucifer waved a hand in the air. “Semantics. Everyone, take a seat.” When everyone hesitated, he slammed his fist on the table. “I said sit!”

While everyone scrambled to do his bidding, Braxton glared at his father before calmly pulling a chair out for his mate to be seated. Once Devon was settled, only then did he sit down next to his father. Goblets full of wine and plates filled with delicious-smelling food appeared in front of them. While Lucifer and Harrison exchanged pleasantries, Autumn slipped her hand into Kingston’s under the table and squeezed hard.

He glanced over at her with a reassuring smile.“Don’t worry. Everything will be okay. Lucifer is just a little…extra at times.”

“He’s freaking terrifying.”She shivered delicately.“What are we even doing here?”

“I have no idea, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon. At least the food will be good.”Kingston glanced over at his friend who was seated across the table. “So, you are the God of Souls now? I guess I’ve missed a lot over the past few months.”

“It’s been interesting, to say the least.”

“He’s a dual god now,” Devon stated proudly. “Both a dark and a light god in one.”

Kingston’s brow rose. “How the hell did that happen? I thought you were supposed to be safely tucked away at that fancy school of yours, not running around ripping people’s souls out.”

“I met my mate on the first day of classes this year.” Braxton turned to smile at Devon before saying, “Then, everything sort of…changed. Long story short, I had to go through the Merit of Godhood Trials to stop the emperor from coming after us.”

Kingston scoffed. “Seriously? Is that asshole a problem for all the new gods?”

“He might be coming after us next,” Autumn clarified when the other couple looked confused.

“Oh, I’m sure he will try,” Lucifer announced, lifting his goblet of wine. “Which is why I gathered us here tonight. We have some shit to discuss. Well, that and I wanted Devon and Autumn to meet.”

“Wait a minute.” Devon blinked at him. “Dad, is this what you meant when you said I needed to make more friends here in the Hell Realm?”

Lucifer beamed a smile at her. “Exactly! See, no need to worry about that anymore. I brought them right to you.”

Braxton just sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“What? I knew Braxton was already friends with Kingston, so I wanted you both to meet the new Goddess of Revenge as well. She’s new to the whole godhood thing, too, so I was sure you would get along. And she was part human, just like you, Devon,” Lucifer proclaimed. “See? She even made us cookies and pie! There is even a chocolate one. You love chocolate.”

“I do,” Devon said carefully. “But you can’t just kidnap people to be my friend.”

“Why not?” Lucifer asked, sounding genuinely baffled.

“Because…” Devon sputtered.

“It’s not polite,” Braxton finished for her, his glowing eyes sparkling with humor.

Devon shot her mate a frown. “You are not helping.”

“What? Lucifer didn’t hurt them or chain them up in the dungeon. He just invited them to dinner.” Braxton grinned. “And they brought pie.”

“What kind of pie?” Keo asked as soon as he appeared in the room. He walked over to the pile of bakery boxes and started lifting the lid off the top box.

The lid tore itself from his grasp and slammed shut again.

“That’s not yours,” Lucifer growled as he wagged a finger in the air. “Touch it again, and I will peel the skin off your arm like a banana.”

“And there goes my appetite,” Autumn whispered with a wince.

Kingston patted her arm sympathetically.“He doesn’t really mean it…I hope.”

“That isn’t very reassuring. And it’s making me wish he had served us something besides steak for dinner.”

“But this Ribeye is quite tasty. You can just eat the lobster instead.”

“Come on, Luc! You can’t eat all of the baked goods by yourself!” Keo complained, ignoring the threat. “Be a pal. I’m hungry.”
