“Sorry, that was all me,” Autumn admitted, raising her hand like a fool. “He was totally lying, and my revenge power just reacted and smacked him.”

Devlin grinned at her. “Well done.”

“We knew he was lying,” Keo admitted. “But I wanted to see just how deep he was going to bury himself.”

“He is a disgrace of a demon,” Harrison said in disgust. The older demon definitely wasn’t the type to eat pie right out of the pan, but he did reach for one of the sugar cookies.

“That he is.” Lucifer set aside his empty pie pan and rubbed his hands together. “Are you done with him, or do you still need him?”

“We still need him!” Autumn, Kingston, Braxton, and Devon all shouted at the same time.

“You had a vision.” As she nodded, Kingston pulled Autumn closer, and he pressed a kiss to her forehead. His magic flooded into her, easing the intense ache that was making her head pound. “What did you see?”

“That councilman is the one who started selling the spells. Not the magical dead zone spell, but one that could help someone bypass protection wards. He sold the spell your brother used to break into the vaults. It’s also how Jeremiah knew exactly where to find the grimoire in the first place.”

“Don’t kill him.” Braxton shoved the chocolate peanut butter pie he’d been sharing with his mate into Devon’s hands and stood up to block his father from getting closer to their demon captive. “We need him to help clear Kingston.”

“I’m not planning on killing him,” Lucifer told him, patting his shoulder. “Death would be far too easy. If he hadn’t sold those damn spells, then I wouldn’t be involved in this mess.”

Braxton’s brows furrowed. “What do you mean? You invited them here.”

Lucifer sighed. “You know that mystery item from the unlisted vault on the list of the things that were taken? Yeah, that was me. And no, I’m not going to tell you what the item was. That brat had no idea what he’d actually stolen, or else he wouldn’t have sold it so quickly and for such a low asking price. Thankfully, the item made its way back to me with relative ease, so all was well.”

“Why didn’t you say something sooner?” Braxton demanded.

“My darling boy, if I were to start listing all the things I don’t share with you, we would be here for several centuries.”

“I just meant you should have told the council that you tracked down whatever artifact you own so it could have been crossed off the list. That would have been one less count against Kingston.”

“Then, I would have had to admit that I was the mysterious owner of said item. There would have been a bunch of annoying questions that would have undoubtedly pissed me off. Not interested,” Lucifer answered bluntly. “That would have defeated the whole purpose of arranging the unlisted vault in the first place.”

“But—”

“One less count against me wouldn’t have mattered,” Kingston broke in, trying to stop them from arguing. “The council had already decided I was guilty.”

“See? All good.” Lucifer grinned. “But Irlis and I have some unfinished business. I won’t kill him, but I will make him suffer since he is the one who made it possible for someone to steal from me. He needs to pay for that.”

“Just…keep him breathing, please,” Kingston pleaded.

“Don’t worry. That asshole will be very cooperative during your meeting with the rest of the Supernatural Council,” Devlin promised. “Did you see where Jeremiah is hiding the artifacts he kept?”

“Sorry, no. I just saw what the councilman was doing with the grimoire.” She paused, then she said, “That’s strange. Usually, I can tell exactly whose revenge vision I’m seeing, especially when it’s this strong, but this just seemed…”

“Like yours.” Kingston smiled and stroked a hand down her hair. “You want revenge for me, so you made the vision happen.”

Her eyes went wide. “I didn’t know I could do that.”

“It looks like my revenge is your revenge now.”

That made her grin. “That sounds about right.”

The reaper nodded in approval. “You’re still learning the full extent of your powers. Give it time, and who knows what you’ll be able to do.”

“Can you wish for a vision from Jeremiah?” Braxton asked hopefully. He winced when his mate jabbed an elbow into his side. “That almost hurt, mate.”

“Almost.” Devon rolled her eyes. “Be nice, Brax. Don’t pressure her.”

“I was encouraging.”
