“I can be both,” Devlin stated when he reappeared standing next to her. “You wish to attend Aegis Academy?”

“I do, but I haven’t had my awakening yet,” she blurted out.

Devlin scoffed. “You’re this powerful a soothsayer, and your powers haven’t officially awakened yet? This should be interesting. I’ll get you in. Aegis Academy won’t dare deny me.”

“Wait! She said the kidnappers are connected to me somehow,” Miya reminded. “I need to know what that means.”

“We’ll figure that out.” Devlin turned to glance over at Autumn and Kingston. “We’ll be a little late to the party.”

“That’s okay,” Autumn assured him with a smile. “Have fun at the academy! We’ll come visit you after you get settled.”

“Now? We’re going right now? But I—” Whatever Jilli had been saying was cut off as she, Devlin, and Miya disappeared.

“Well, that was interesting,” Kingston commented.

“I got a good feeling about her.”

“You just liked how snarky she is.”

She laughed. “I really did, but there is…she is important somehow. I don’t know how I know that. I only sensed that we should help her.”

“Then, we will,” he said simply. “What do you think she meant about the flowers?”

“I don’t know, but I guess we’ll find out soon,” she said as they started walking again.

As soon as they got close to the alpha’s house, the sound of music, laughter, and raised voices reached them. The entire front yard had been changed into an outdoor party venue. Lanterns hung from the branches of the trees, and tiny fairy lights were wrapped around the trunks. Guests were standing in groups or sitting at the long tables, and a massive buffet had been set up with trays filled with delicious food.

The pack members had hung out with the firefighters and bakery employees before, but there were a few new additions to the group that made the rest of them uneasy. Lucifer seemed amused by the varying degrees of shocked or horrified expressions sent his way as he spoke to Paul and Rachel.

Since he was a superstar used to being the center of attention, Keo was good at mingling with strangers. But he looked like he was having a genuinely good time laughing and chatting with Huxley, Jordan, and Thayer. The twins were having a secretive conversation with Braxton and Devon, while Kingston’s grandfather and the fire chief were debating something over pints of beer.

Kingston sighed. “This should be strange, right?”

Autumn laughed. “I think it’s great. It’s like worlds colliding.”

“That’s true. Speaking of…” Kingston glanced over as his brother walked over to join them. “Wes.”

“King.” Wesley Spencer inclined his head toward Autumn respectfully. “Thanks for inviting me tonight.”

“You’re my brother.”

Wesley sighed. “I haven’t been a very good one.”

“Try harder,” Autumn said kindly.

Chuckling, Wesley nodded. “I will. I know I told you this before, but I really am sorry about everything. We haven’t really got a chance to talk since…well, tonight is not the right time for this either. I was hoping we could get together in a few days or something. Have a meal? If you have time.”

Kingston smiled and nodded. “That sounds good. And I won’t be coming back to the bank, so you will have to step it up and help Grandfather handle everything from now on.”

Wesley straightened and nodded solemnly. “I will.”

“Good. Now, let’s enjoy the party.”

The crowd cheered when they noticed Kingston and Autumn’s arrival, and her friends gushed over her dress as soon as she removed the cape. Soon, they were overwhelmed by well-wishers and friends congratulating them on their mating. She blinked in surprise when Devon shoved a box into her hands.

“Congrats on your mating! This is a gift from Brax and me.”

“Thank you, I—” Autumn gasped when she opened the box and saw a sparkly pink phone and a simple black phone inside. “Oh, my god!”
