“You have no fucking idea.” I sighed longingly. “I hate never feeling warm.”

Dason, in all his shirtless glory, prowled forward, and I took the opportunity to study him. He was magnificent, the hard lines of his body accentuated by the night’s shadows. He was lickable, but he knew that already.

I blushed, thinking about the play we’d had last night when I’d fed off of him again at his insistence despite Kota’s warnings.

His blood called to me like a siren’s song, luring me closer. The strong outdoor fragrance of pine and forest couldn’t mask the rich scent of it, but I was sated, and my fangs stayed retracted.

Walking up to my back, Dason wrapped his arms around me and cradled me against his chest, blanketing me with his body heat. Ever since our talk, and the subsequent steam that rose between us, he’d stopped holding back and began touching me more freely, even in front of the pack. I wasn’t about to knock it.

“God, you’re like my own personal sun.” My satisfied groan sounded nearly sexual, and I melted into him like warm chocolate, fusing myself to him and making as much contact with his body as possible.

His groin stirred, and I bit my lip to hold back the wide smile threatening to break across my lips while Dason cleared his throat and shifted.

“Sorry,” he rumbled. “I uh… can’t control my reaction when you’re this close to me.”

“I’m not mad at the development.” In fact, I wanted more of it. Dase had gotten me off again last night, denying himself the effects of the venom—at least when we’d been together. The idea of him touching himself in private, of him fucking his hand again, had tortured me as I fell asleep.

“No more temptations,” Dase murmured, not sounding fully convinced himself. Apparently, he held more conviction than I did, because after a quick kiss on the neck that left me shivering, he moved away. “Jolon will be joining us in a minute, but why don’t we get started?”

Dason ran me through a bunch of meditation and stretching exercises designed to help me find my center, but I didn’t feel any different by the time we were warmed up than I had when we began.

“We should start simple,” Jolon suggested from his perch on a tree stump Dason clearly used for chopping wood. The discarded ax and the wood pile behind it gave it away.

“What exactly are we trying to do?” I bit my lip and wrapped my arms around myself. I shouldn’t feel this nervous about testing my powers, but dread pooled in my stomach. What if I couldn’t shift or my magick malfunctioned like it used to?

“This isn’t a test, babe.” Jolon stood and sauntered forward. “There’s no grade. No expectations.”

Dason agreed. “We just need to gauge where you’re at with your abilities. None of us have ever heard of a tribrid before.”

It was weird to see them on the same side, working together toward a common goal. It gave me hope for the future, though I knew we still needed to tackle the biggest hurdle, one that seemed almost impossible with my new ‘condition’ and the two men who didn’t plan on yielding to each other.

“Dason said you’re stronger.” Jolon nodded to Dase. “Let’s start there.”

Remembering when I’d punched him too hard, I flushed.

“None of that.” Dason hooked a finger under my chin and lifted my face. “How about we make this fun?” He smirked and backed up, doing the come-hither motion with his fingers.

I cocked my head at him and raised a brow. “What are you up to?”

“Are you always going to challenge me?” Dason rolled his eyes playfully.

“Probably.” I propped my hands on my hips. “You’d be bored if I didn’t.”

“Such sass,” Dason remarked to Jolon.

“Keep that up, firecracker, and we’ll have to find another use for that mouth.” Jolon’s sinful promise slowed my brain as I fixated on the images that flooded my mind.

“She’s not saying no,” Dason purred, his deep voice vibrating in his chest. He stalked circles around me, his attention lascivious, nearly feeling like a caress. Dase stepped up behind me again and his hands went to my waist. His warm breath whispered over my neck as he murmured, “Would you like that, Lorn? Do you dream about being between your mates? About being the center of their attention while they please you? Or maybe you want to be in control, own our pleasure, and take it for your own?”

Holy shit. How did I keep getting reduced to a pile of goo? All I could focus on was blood, sex, and repeat.

Dason’s hand started moving in a slow trail over the contours of my waist and hips, and his scruff scratched lightly against my neck, abrading my skin.

I didn’t see it coming. Instead of sexy kisses, he tickled my sides until I was laughing and flailing against him.

Without thinking about it, I hooked an arm around Dason’s bicep, dropped down, and used my strength to flip him over my shoulder. He landed on the ground with a massive thud, the grass breaking his fall.

Blue eyes wide, I threw my hands over my gaping mouth. “Ohmigod. I’m so sorry, Dason.”
