I lick my lips, stifling the need to kiss her, to clean her up with my mouth. Later. There’s no time.

“Please come back to me,” she whispers, her eyes closed.

I reach for her foot, lifting it to my mouth, and press a soft kiss to her ankle. “I will always come back to you.”

Downstairs,Declanwaitsforme in the parking garage. His ass is leaning against the Hellcat, arms folded. “‘Bout time,” he grumbles.

“Get off my car before your fatass puts a dent in it,” I growl back. “I take it I’m driving.”

“Yeah. I think your car is more appropriate for kidnapping a bratva heir than mine.”

My gaze falls to his bright orange Lamborghini Revuelto. I snort. “That thing is hideous. Couldn’t have gone for classic black?”

He shrugs. “It was a gift.”

“From who?”

He smirks. “One of the Italians in Cali. Wiped his ass out at a game of poker.”

I gape at him. “Jesus.” I unlock the doors, and we climb in.

He’s already plugging in the coordinates to the GPS on the screen as I start the engine. “Weapons?” I ask, backing out of the parking spot.

“We’re meeting the others at a checkpoint, then heading in on foot. They’ve got everything we need.”

“Who are the others? How many do we have and how many men do they have holed up in there?”

“There are four men and one woman. Vladimir, three guards, and the woman might be his girl. We’re not sure.” He pauses, tossing me a skeptical look. “Callum, Paddy, and Sean are with Corbin, Yuliya and Jericho.”

I grip the steering wheel so tight, my knuckles turn white. “Fuck, no. When are we going to cut that dude loose?” I growl.

I don’t like the way that douche bag acts. Yuliya has proven her worth ten-fold. But Corbin? He’s too smug, and I don’t care if their two second engagement was fake, Saoirse still wore his ring. My girl was claimed publicly by someone else. He’ll forever be enemy number one.

“He’s got fighting skills and Callum trusts him,” Declan says.

“He’s the fucking governor. Doesn’t he have governor shit to do? He shouldn’t be getting his hands dirty with criminals.”

Declan shrugs, turning the radio on. “Get used to it. He’s going to be around more.”

“Why?” I ask. “Saoirse’s done with him.”

Declan nods. “Yeah, I know she’s done with him. You’ve made sure of that, asshole.”

I roll my eyes. “Okay. So, eight of us, five of them. I like those odds. Do we have a breach point?”

“Back door. It’ll lead straight to the basement. Four of us will clear the first level and move to the top while the other four enter the basement.”

It’s a solid plan. Even if all five of them are on one level of the house, we won’t be ambushed by splitting up. “I hope you pissed before you got in,” I say. “I’m not stopping until we’re in Albany.”

My jaw clenches, and I reach for the radio. Shutting it off, we head out of the garage and into the city. It’s time Declan fills me in on how Saoirse knew about Brian. I hadn’t gotten around to asking her, our life more than chaotic right now. Plus, I wanted Declan to have the chance to explain why he never told me.

“How did Saoirse know about Brian?” I ask.

Declan lets out a frustrated sigh. “She overheard us.”

“What do you mean?” I toss him a side eye, unable to move my attention fully from the road.

His foot taps against the floor of the car while he stares through the windshield. He’s avoiding eye contact, avoiding me.
