Zee shrugged. “Doesn’t feel too bad when the brace is on. Showering fucking sucks, though.”

“Want me to give you a sponge bath?” Levy offered cheekily, waggling his eyebrows.

“I’mma pass, bro. Generous offer, though. Tempting.”

Levy shook his curly hair out. “What can I say? I’m practically irresistible. Right, babe?”

Olive side-eyed him. “I’m breaking up with you.”

“Noooo,” Levy whined dramatically.

Ishir snickered. “You guys are ridiculous. I’mma order some cauliflower-based pizza and we’re gonna playMario Party.”

Levy cheered. “I haven’t played that inages. I swear if any of you motherfuckers steal my stars…”

Zee and Ishir traded a conspiratorial look.

The game ended up being a total bloodbath, but an enjoyable one.

“Zee,” Ishir admonished loudly for what felt like the hundredth time as the idiot tried standing up in indignation again.

“You can’t do that!” he shouted at Levy. “You can’t do that.”

Levy cackled loudly. “I can, and I am. Suck my massive dick, pussyboy.”

Zee reached for one of his crutches and tried to bang it on Levy’s head.

It went even further downhill from there. Ishir was reminded very quickly what an absolute mess playingMario Partycould be.

Olive was the final winner, although none of the others agreed with the result, claiming everything from glitches to cheating to witchcraft.

“You’re all sore, and more importantly, losers,” Olive stated primly.

Ishir, who just enjoyed seeing Zee all fired up after being mopey the last few days, snickered. “I’m gonna take these to the kitchen. You guys battle it out.”

Olive jumped up. “Babe, entertain Zee. I’m helping.”

They took the plates to the kitchen, stacking them in the sink. “I’m not actually going to clean,” Ishir whispered.

“Oh, perfect. We can just hide,” he said with a shy laugh.

“How’s the season going? Sorry we haven’t hung out much.”

“Oh, same here—it’s impossible to have friends outside of the team, I swear. The schedule is too weird, the travelling…I have no idea how some of the guys manage to date.”

“Oh, I know, it’s crazy. One of the guys on our team, I swear to God, he has a new date every time we’re home.”

Olive winced. “That sounds so exhausting. Not that I’ve ever dated, but it seems intimidating.”

“No, yeah…” Of course Olive hadn’t dated, what with keeping his Omega dynamic a secret until last year. “I haven’t dated either, to be honest.”

“No Omega caught your eye?” Olive asked teasingly.

“I’m gay, actually.” Ishir had no idea why he said it. It just burst out of him like a living thing, something begging to surface for a breath of fresh air.

Olive’s eyes widened, mouth falling open. “Oh. Sorry. I had no clue…but that makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.”

Ishir frowned. “Why?”
