“You and Zee, right? You’re a couple?”

A piercing pain went through Ishir’s chest. “No. He’s straight.”

“Oh. Shit, okay, sorry, I’m being such an idiot. Thanks for telling me. Uh…right, I can imagine it’s pretty hard to date, huh?”

“Yeah.” A pause. “If you could not tell anybody about me being…”

“Dude, of course. Come on—I know what it’s like to keep that kind of secret. I also pretended to like Omegas…it was weird.”

“Right? So awkward.”

“Yes. And then you go back to your teammates and they’re like, ‘Oh, bro, did you strike out? They were so hot’, blah blah blah.”

Ishir laughed. “Literally, though.”

“Zee knows, right?”

“Yeah, yeah. He’s known for ages. He’s cool with it.” Ishir wasn’t going to mention exactlyhowcool.

“Yeah, he’s a good guy. But, did Zee tell you about the first time he and Levy met?”

“No…?”

“Oh, my God. Levy gotsojealous. We weren’t even together then, but he started projecting his scent in a goddamn sushi restaurant.”

“No.”

“Yes. I was so dumb, like, oh, why is he doing that? Uh, because he likes you, dummy.”

Ishir snorted. “He’s so gone for you it’s ridiculous. I’m surprised you’re not mated.”

Olive threw his hands in the air. “Is it just me that thinks we should wait until we’re, like, twenty-eight to mate? It just seems crazy to mate this young.”

Ishir shrugged.

“Wouldyou? Like, if the right Alpha came along, would you mate?”

Ishir tried really, really hard not to think of Zee and failed. “I mean…yeah. I don’t know. It’d be cool to feel like I belonged to someone? Or likewithsomeone, I should say.” He blushed.

“Right. Yeah, I mean…”

“Has Levy asked you to mate officially?”

“Oh, yeah. I told him we should wait, but…I’m starting to forget why?”

“I mean, if you want to wait, wait. But is that what you really want, or do you feel like you’resupposedto wait?”

Olive chewed on his lip. “Yeah. I’m going to have to think about that. Thanks.”

Ishir smiled.

“And if you ever wanted to talk about anything…hit me up, yeah? Keeping secrets can be pretty lonely,” Olive offered.

“Yeah. Thanks.” Ishir shifted awkwardly, not used to having deep, emotional conversations. “I actually did want to ask you a question.”

“Shoot.”

“I know we talked a little about it before, but—when you came out as an Omega, how was it, exactly?” It wasn’t that Ishir was thinking about telling the world he was gay, but it had been niggling at him, lately.
