“Oh, she knows.”

I closed my eyes. “Dammit. This is why we should keep extra stocked in the freezer.”

“You’re the one who said they don’t thaw perfectly,” Brynn reminded me. “It’s not a big deal, and none of us will complain about the extra money. That was a lot of candy. We’ll stay up all night to get most of the basics remade, but you know the seasonal stuff is a little beyond our skill level.”

“And the seasonal stuff sells like hotcakes,” Miles added. “My baristas arekillerat convincing people to take a pumpkin spice latte for now, and a pumkin spice truffle for later.”

“I know. Mine are too.” I collapsed back against the couch, and my gaze scanned the boxes on the table. I knew exactly who had bought out all three shops—but knowing that didn’t do us any good. It wasn’t like I could take them back and resell them.

Honestly, I should’ve told him from the beginning that I was the owner so he didn’t do anything ridiculous.

Like buying three shops’ worth of fancy candy.

“It’s fine. You’re right about the money. I’ll drag Rafael back to the shop with me and spend the night working there while you guys go to town in the apartment.”

“Perfect,” Brynn said. “What should we prioritize?”

“I have spreadsheets of which products have sold the best in each of our shops over the last month. I’ll check it and text the list out so you know what to work on too, Tatum.”

“Sounds good. I should probably mention, I learned today that demons eat candy to stave off their hunger.”

There was a long pause, until Brynn finally laughed. “Your new husband and his brothers bought out the candy at allthreeof our shops?”

“How can he handle that much candy? He’s ridiculously muscular,” Miley grumbled.

“And ridiculously rich, apparently,” Brynn said.

“I don’t think what they eat affects their appearances.” I looked up at Rafael again, and he dipped his head, confirming my suspicions.

“Damn. Can you ask one of the brothers to come into my shop and mate me up?” Brynn teased.

Miley snorted, and I grinned. “I’ll give it a go.”

“We’ll send the list over in the next few minutes. Good luck convincing your demon to spend the night baking with you,” Miley said.

“I’ll probably need it, so thanks. Talk later.”

We hung up, and I looked over at Rafael. I found him on his phone, his forehead wrinkled as he scrolled.

His gaze lifted to mine after a moment. “Your half of that conversation was interesting, Tater-tot.”

Obviously, I was going to have to come clean.

“A little search brought me to your shop’s social media page,” he said, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You’re not a barista.”

Yeah, I probably should’ve told him earlier.

“I am, actually. During the busy stretches, at least.”

“According to this picture, you’re the genius behind all of theCoffee & Toffeerecipes. And one of the shops’ owners. Your best friends own the other two locations.”

There it was.

“I never told you I wasonlya barista.”

“You never told me you were the candy chef I was raving about, either.” He continued staring at me, his eyes still narrowed. “You should’ve clarified.”

“You didn’t seem interested in learning the truth.”
