A shiver runs through me despite the suffocating heat of the party.

Caden is speaking with Ethan, his arm draped around my ex’s shoulders, but his eyes are on me. His mouth is right in his ear so he can hear him over the music.

I push past Kings’ members, disregarding the insults some throw my way. Ethan and Caden are against the wall near the kitchen, and I can’t ignore the infuriatingly cute smile Caden King has put on my ex’s lips.
Those are so rare, Caden doesn’t deserve them.
“I can’t believe youdareapproach me, Jade,” he says casually. “Do you know how quickly I could kill you right now?”
“You told Elliot you wouldn’t.”
He cocks his head to the side, blinking at me. “I’m unsure what your point is.”
“You toldBillieyou wouldn’t.”
When he doesn’t say anything, I know I’ve got him.
“I thought you lived in NYC now,” I snap so hard my teeth clunk together. “For someone who hates this town, we see you here way too often.”
He smiles down at me, but talks to Ethan. “I told you it would work.”
“What would work?” I snarl, my hands already forming into fists so tightly my nails cut crescents into my skin.
“That you’d come over the second I put my hands on him. You’re a jealous, volatile little thing.” Caden’s eyes light with mischief.
I look at his arm still around Ethan and everything becomes clear to me.
There’s something known to many Kings’ members, but is rarely talked about. And that’s the few brief months Caden and Ethan dated when the latest joined the Kings. If we can call Caden using Ethan as his favorite fuck toydating.
What it really was, was Ethan getting attention from someone else other than me for the first time in his life. He always knew he was bisexual, and it’s no secret from Caden either, but finally a human other than me showed Ethan he was attracted to him, and he was done for.
The frustration of seeing my ex walk around with Caden’s love bites was more heartbreaking than I ever cared to admit.
I look at Caden’s hand hanging over Ethan’s shoulder and the brightest fucking lightbulb lights up over my head.
I narrow my eyes at him. “It was you.”
“Me?” Caden chuckles.
It’s becoming so clear that he’s the one who forced Ethan to break up with me. Or why would he have jumped on him the second we were separated.
