“We had sex once,” he repeats. “And—”

“He just wasn’t that good, was he?” I tease.

“Will you just let me fucking talk?” he seethes. “I’m trying to apologize here.”

I cock an eyebrow at him. “I believe apologies of that grandeur should be made on your knees.”

His mouth drops open just as Elliot’s burst of laughter escapes him. His hands are still on my tits, both of them fitting in his palms perfectly.

“Do you want to die, Mi Cielo?”

I shrug. “Do you want me to accept your apology? I’m not in a rush, are you?”

He looks away, a puff of air leaving his lungs. “Unbelievable.”

But as he says that, he drops to one knee in the bath, and then the other.

His hands wrap around my thighs, his head by my stomach. “I’m sorry, Jade. My actions made it seem like I wasn’t in love with you anymore, or that I was capable of forgetting about you. I’m sorry that’s what they portrayed, and I’m sorry I broke up with you so Elliot would get me into the Kings’ crew. Since I met you, I have not spent a day not loving you. Please, forgive me.”

Looking up at me makes his black eyes look bigger and looking down at him makes my heart jump crazily in my chest. I’m awake now. Awake and ready to let the past go.

“I forgive you, Ethan,” I say as I slide my hand in his hair. “I love you too.”

He smiles, pressing his cheek against my stomach. “I’m never letting you go again. I promise you.”

I nod, but our moment is cut short by Elliot’s bitter laugh and his grip on my body tightening. “She got you on your fucking knees, brother. It’s a good look on you.” His voice is strained, like there’s something he’s dying to fight about, but he’s keeping to himself.

My back stiffens, remembering that half of my heartbreaks come from Elliot and all the plans he put in place to have me.

“You think this is funny?” I twist my head back to see him. “You’re the one who led him down that road. You planned my entire life without me having a say in it because you were obsessed and didn’t have the courage to let me know.”

He narrows his gaze at me. “If you expect an apology, don’t hold your breath.”

My nails scrape against Ethan’s scalp, and he nuzzles closer to me.

“Let go of me, Elliot.” There’s a surge of power inside me, and it’s too big for me to control.

Elliot lets go of me, and I shift to see him properly. “You manipulated him into breaking up with me. You manipulated me into giving you what you wanted in the guise of protection against people you rallied against me yourself. You know you do the things you do because you can’t stand even the slightest chance of me rejecting you. Own it. Get on your knees and apologize for breaking me apart so you could build me back together the way you wanted it.”

“All I hear is that my plans worked, and you fell for me. You may call me a genius.”

“Is it worth me falling for you if a part of me forever loathes you for what you did? It doesn’t have to be that way.”

He opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. He waits, and waits, staring at me, waiting for me to break. I won’t.

“I did what I did because I’m in love with you,” he says in his sweetly manipulative tone. “I can’t apologize for that.”

“You can apologize for your actions. For humiliating me at that party. In front of our entire crew.”

He licks his lips, smiles, and to my surprise…drops to his knees. But it doesn’t feel the same as Ethan. It’s not because he’s taller and his head reaches my boobs despite kneeling at my feet. It’s because of his eyes shining with mischief, and the tip of his smile taunting me.

Elliot might be kneeling for me, but he is in complete control, and he knows it. He is doing it because he wants to, because it’ll get him something he wants, not because I told him to.

“I am sorry for loving you so hard I couldn’t stay away. I’m sorry that I would do anything wrong or right to have you.” His smirk falls, a flash of honestly crossing his gaze. “I’m sorry my love is selfish and destructive, but it’s real. You can hardly blame a man for his obsession when his obsession is you.”

My mouth parts when his hand wraps around my right upper thigh, his fingers so close to my core. On my left, Ethan is still holding my leg with two hands.

I thread my fingers in both of their hair. “I forgive you,” I murmur. “If you forgive me for loving you both.”
