I look up, confused. “So who told her? And who told Stan?”

“That’s none of your business. What you need to know is that he isn’t happy that the small, insignificant gang that works for us took the toy he paid a lot of money for.”

I narrow my eyes at him. The Kings are small and insignificant to the Bratva, but our lives matter just the same.

“I’m not a toy,” I hiss back.

He smirks. “You know exactly what you were to him. You agreed to his terms. And then you left while he was away.”

“I got taken.”

“Which brings me to my visit. Being taken means it was against your will. I can bring you back to Stan, but I need your consent for that. He doesn’t want a kidnapping. He wants the deal you had.”

My chest lightens for a second, my heart accelerating. “You mean he’d let me stay?”

“Of course. You can stay, you can come. That’s up to you.” His pause is heavy with meaning. “Although, I have to say both options come with conditions I think you should be made aware of before you make a decision.”

And just like that, the lightness in my chest is crushed down by two heavy weights.

“I’m listening,” I rasp.

“If you don’t want to come back, Stan will talk to Viktor Volkov” —aka the head of the Wolves—“and tell him to drop the deal with the Kings. Your crew will be on their own out there.”

My heart drops.

“You’re telling me the entire fate of the Kings’ Crew rests on this fucking decision?” I seethe.

He shrugs. “I didn’t say it was going to be an easy one to make.”

“You’re blackmailing me into coming with you!” I fight. “That’s not adecision.”

“Watch your tone with me.” With that voice, I almost expect him to addyoung lady.

I take a deep breath, my anger calming down under the threat. “So I have to come, that’s what you’re telling me.”

“If you care about the Kings and their fate on the North Shore, I guess you should come.”

A sense of dread overcomes me, and yet I can’t get myself to decide. The Kings betrayed me many times in the past, but not everyone who is part of this crew is bad. Some people aren’t greedy; they’re just trying to survive in our broken town.

“I’m not finished.”

I glance back up.

“If you decide to come, Stan assumes it’s because you really have been taken against your will. Then the people who did it must pay. I work quickly, Jade. I have no time to waste. Agree to come back with me, and Elliot Pearson and Ethan Torres will be left behind in the parking lot with a bullet in each of their heads.”

“What?” I gasp. I’m up in a split second.

“Sit down.”

“You fucking sit down,” I seethe. “You’re not touching them.”

“Stan had very specific orders. Come, and he eliminates the threats. Stay, and the deal with the Kings is over.”

“Fuck the Kings! I’m not sacrificing Elliot and Ethan for them.”

His smile is as condescending as they come. “Taken against your will, huh?”

“Fuck you. Fuck you and Stan. I’m not going back to him. Burn the North Shore to the ground if you must and tell the entire Bratva Wolves to go fuck themselves. I don’t care as long as they stay alive.”
