“You know me so well.” I wink at him. I turn back to the blond brother, balancing on my heels before going flat again. I like teasing him.

“Jade,” he growls. “Talk. Now.”

“I went zero to sixty in seven seconds.”

“I’m pretty sure that isn’t very good for a drag race,” Ethan wonders aloud.

“Oh, it’s terrible. It’s okay for a van, but it’s fucking terrible for this race. I put my reputation on the line for this shit.”

“And yet things are fine? Get to the fucking point.” Elliot’s lack of patience shows, and it makes me want to taunt him some more.

“What I mean is…” I let my words hang and giggle when he takes a step toward me, his hands gripping my waist harshly.

“Your ass is going to be so sore,” he threatens low.

“What she means is she can do it. That three-minute drive in fifty-nine seconds.” Kay appears from behind the guys, looking at me with her piercing eyes. “What shemeansis she fucking did it. She made that van perfect for our little adventure. Good thing, now that I lost my deal with the Wolves.”

I try to take a step back, but Elliot holds me. Kay settles next to him, and he stays close to make sure this doesn’t escalate.

“Is it done, then?” Ethan asks. “Official?”

Kay nods, her eyes staying on me. “Yeah. Ivan got a not so nice call from Mikhail, Viktor Volkov’s right hand.” She takes a deep breath, like she can’t believe it. “I think it’s worse than my worst breakup.” She chuckles sadly.

“You and Ivan broke up?” I ask.

She snorts. “No. He told Mikhail he wanted to stay here, by my side. They didn’t even care. I’m talking about my breakup with the Wolves. Only years of work that have become completely worthless.”

I wouldn’t say she looks vulnerable right now, but it’s the least held up together I’ve ever seen her.

“Kay,” I start. “I’m...so fucking sorry.”

I’m not even saying this because I’m worried about what she’ll do to me. I’m saying it because her entire life has always been about the Kings’ Crew. She was born into it, daughter of the leader, but by being a girl, she had to fight her way to the top. She’s strong—maybe stronger than I’ll ever be—and her empire is crumbling to the ground.

She shakes her head. “You have nothing to be sorry about. The fuckers had you between a rock and a hard place and they knew it. They’ve been trying to find any excuse to drop us. This was just the perfect timing. I wouldn’t have stood for them threatening Elliot and Ethan either.” She smirks. “And I heard you gave Aaron Williams quite a piece of your mind.”

I laugh softly, confirming what’s been said. “He angered me.”

“Yes, a rare event.” Elliot pokes my cheek, making me giggle.

“Damn. You really are scared of nothing.” Kay turns to the brothers. “Your girl survived seeing a Wolfandinsulting him. I hope you gave her the orgasm of her life after that.”

“Oh, we did.” Elliot smirks. My cheeks flush remembering taking them both at the same time.

“We have pictures if you want.”

“Ethan!” I bark. “When did you take pictures?”

“When you were purring like a good k—”

“Okay that’s about enough,” Kay intervenes.

The brothers burst into laughter despite my scowling at them. “Assholes,” I growl.

“Come, let’s get you a beer or something,” Elliot laughs.

They start walking away, but Kay holds me back, a hand on my shoulder.

“Jade.”
