They’re in his past for a reason. Not present,my higher self tried to console me.

“Baby,” Noah said. “Please be honest.” His eyes were serious as he caressed my cheek. “Do you regret last night? I can’t help but feel this nagging guilt, like I took something from you.”

My innocence? No.

Cuddling closer, I said, “I love you, Noah. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted and more. I have no regrets.”

“You’re so young, though.”

“I know that makes you feel apprehensive about us being together—but I’m eighteen, not sixteen.”

“You’re not even at the legal drinking age yet.”

“I know.”

“Not for another three years.” He groaned.

“Look,” I sighed. “I want to be with you, even if that means we’d have to hide our relationship from the world and live in secrecy.”

“I can’t ever tell anyone I’m your boyfriend. I can’t kiss you in public—can’t hold your hand without people thinking we’re dating…”

“I don’t care. Let’s leave the country and live someplace in Europe. We could get new IDs… It could be an adventure! You’re a lawyer. I’m sure you could pull it off. No one would have to know. We can make this work.”

“You’re such a hopeless romantic.” He flashed a hint of a smile. “You remind me of myself when I was your age.”

“You’re still a romantic. I mean, look at what you did for me last night. I didn’t expect that at all.”

“You bring out that side in me.”

I quirked an eyebrow. “How many sides do you hide from the world?”

“Too many.” He chuckled. “I’m like a complicated Rubik’s cube, Aria.”

“So am I.”

“I’m a hundred times more complicated.”

“Maybe so, but a Rubik’s cube can always be solved.”

His attractive lips curved into a devilish smile before he kissed me and ran his palm along my stomach.

“What did you think when you read my note?” Noah asked.

“I couldn’t recognize the writing. I suspected it was from Ryan.”

Good thing I hadn’t mentioned Evan’s cameo appearance.

“Well”—he rolled on top of me—“I hope I was a better surprise than him.”

“You know you are.”

Noah kissed my neck, delighting my senses. I laughed when he playfully growled. We both felt so happy and carefree.

“You… [kiss]… are… [kiss]… mine… [kiss]…”

Wrapping my arms over his shoulders, I stared into his eyes and said, “Please never walk out on me.”

“That’s never going to happen.”
