“I think you’re the only one who’s ever come close to solving me.”
Noah touched my hip, sending shivers down my spine. Our physical attraction would never go away. No matter how wrong it was, it was always there and noticeable. The sexual tension was killing me.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked.
“Just thinking about you and I.”
“What about us?”
“I miss you.”
“I’m right here.”
“I know. I mean, I miss…” I stared at his attractive mouth, hoping he’d kiss me.
“Aria.” He touched my face. “We can’t.”
My heart sank.
“I promise we’ll figure this out,” he stated, gliding his fingers through my hair. “Do you trust me?”
“Yes.”
Noah kissed my forehead and told me to focus on getting better. But that was impossible when he was lying so close to me. I wanted to caress him and kiss him. I wanted him to be mine.

THE DEPTH OF MY LOVE
“…A body has been found and identified in Terrance Park this morning…”
“Mom, wait! Don’t change the channel!”
“…Eighteen-year-old Stephanie Cohen was brutally murdered last night in cold blood. A local jogger and his dog had been passing by the park on their routine run when the German Shepherd made the grisly discovery… Police detectives could not identify and incarcerate the assailant, and are still investigating the crime scene… A memorial will be held by Stephanie’s family at the park tomorrow evening.”
“Oh, my God!” Aria gasped. “Oh, my God…”
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
“I know her! Iknowher, Mom! She… I can’t believe…”
“Oh, honey”—Natalie held her daughter’s hand—“I’m so sorry.”
“We weren’t close. We just went to the same school.”
Natalie was about to ask a question when Evan walked in.
“How are my two favorite ladies doing today?” He smiled, handing Natalie a cup of coffee.
“We’ve heard some very sad news,” she said. “One of Aria’s high school classmates was murdered last night.”
Evan looked at his niece with concern. “Are you okay, love?”
“It was Stephanie.”
“As in the same Steph who…”
