On the third night, Cammie woke up around two in the morning to find that Noah was still asleep. Caressing his chest, she was startled when he clutched her wrist.

“Go back to bed,” he muttered with his eyes closed.

“I just love touching you.”

“I’m trying to sleep.”

“Are you ever gonna tell me who Aria is?”

Turning away, he mumbled, “The only girl I love more than anyone.”

Cammie’s envy stung her like a hundred scorpions. Unable to sleep, she angrily threw the covers back and strode into the bathroom to shower and leave.

This was their tragic tale of unrequited love. Their toxic relationship continued until they finally parted ways for law school.

CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

ARIA

I was so excited to go to the photo exhibit tonight and see Evan’s creations. I had been looking forward to it since the day he told me about the special event. My makeup was minimal, but I had brushed on some peach colored lip gloss.

Headed for the subway station, my cellphone suddenly rang. I beamed when I looked at the caller ID.

“Hey, you!”

“Aria, I’ve got a bit of an emergency.”

“Is everything all right?”

“I need you to do me a favor.”

“What’s up, Daddy?”

“I’m ‘Daddy’ now?” He laughed.

“Yes! Now I can say it, since we have no blood ties.”

“And what does ‘Daddy’ mean in this context?”

“Rich, older man who is sexy A.F. and possesses all the qualities of an ideal father and lover.”

“I’m reminded of my old age, if you call me that.”

“It’ll grow on you, Daddy Noah.”

“Good lord…” He chuckled. “I’m not sure how I feel about you calling me that in public.”

“Only in the bedroom.”

“Definitelynot.”

I cracked up.

“Do you still have the key to my penthouse?”

“Yes.”

“I need you to go there and go inside my office. I—”
