“Audrey, you should never sign a binding contract without reading it first. You can’t negotiate terms if you agree to them.”

“You basically told me everything I need to know. You need a thief. For some reason, you think I can do the job. I’ll pretend to be part of your pack when in public. Doesn’t seem to be much more that needs to be said.”

He inclines his head and presses his lips together. “Very well, I’ll have your room made up in our apartment in the city. It is the same building you reside in now, only the penthouse. It should be easy to move your things. Of course, your twin is free to come with you or stay in the apartment. Either way, he will be close.”

When my eyes feel like they are about to pop out of my damn head, he sighs.

“But then you would know all that if you read it.”

I reach for it as he snags it away. “I’m not doing that. I didn’t agree tolivewith you.”

“My pack lives with me. You need to have the appearance of being a part of my pack to the public. I’m in the public eye. The magazines will run stories about you as soon as they realize we now have an omega. The elusive Zade and St. Cloud, settling down with not only a beta but a beautiful omega.”

Something about the way he says Zade and St. Cloud reaches some part of my memories. It feels like something just out of reach, right there, yet slippery enough not to be able to grab hold. “Give me the contract.”

“Baby girl, my sweet little omega, what would you do if I gave it to you? Rip it in half?” He flicks his eyes at the corner of the room. “You signed it on camera, destroying it now won’t change that fact.”

I growl, and he chuckles. Another one of his sinfully delicious and elusive smiles spreads across his face, making me think maybe he smiles more than I thought.

“If you don’t give me the contract back right now. I’ll–”

“You’ll?” he ventures when I stop talking as the man from in front of the abandoned warehouse strolls into the room as if he belongs here.

My heart leaps into my throat as it attempts to flee my body. My eyes ping-pong between the two of them. It was a setup. The whole thing. It is finally sinking in. They were bringing me in one way or another.

The new alpha is tall and as toned as I thought when I saw him on the street. Sunglasses don’t block his eyes and they are the deepest caramel brown I have ever seen. The same undeniable magnetism flows off of him as if it seeps from his pores.

He comes to a halt when he notices me, his caramel orbs gliding from my head to my toes. I quickly stand up and face him.

“Oh, my apologies. I thought you were alone,” he says the words while staring at me, but he meant them for Austin. I can not pull my attention away from him.

“Saint, meet our omega.” He holds up the contract and grins. “Audrey, this is Dean St. Cloud.”

I can literally feel my pulse in my clit as he steps closer, extending an open palm to me. “Audrey, Felix mentioned your beauty, but seeing it myself is like staring into the sun. Dazzling and bright.”

I snort at the corny one liner. Rolling my eyes, I focus on Austin.

“He’s not joking,” he says as soon as our eyes connect. I’m not sure if he means I’m beautiful or that his flirting is just that bad, and there is no way in hell I’m asking.

When I continue to ignore Dean’s outstretched arm, he drops it.

“I don’t do touch,” I explain, feeling a need to ease the confusion on his face. The lines only deepen on his beautiful face as he looks to his friend.

“I’m surprised you agreed so quickly,” Dean says, bringing his dark and warm gaze back to me.

“I didn’t. I signed it byaccident, but Austin refuses to give it back and let me actually read what I agreed to.”

Austin scoffs. “I told you to read it fully before signing. You are the one that is impatient and signed it anyway. So it is valid.”

Dean’s eyebrows raise higher on his face. “If he warned you–”

I take it back. His eyes aren’t warm. He is an alpha and not someone that will help me out of this. He wants this as much as Austin does. But I can’t help trying one last time.

“He said I have to live with you,” I say.

His lips press into a tight line as he nods. “That is the only way the public would believe Austin has an omega after—” He snaps his mouth shut, and I suddenly want to knowafter what?

I grip the back of the chair as I’m sure I perfume my curiosity for the both of them. Dean inhales deeply, his nostrils going wide and his pupils following, erasing most of the caramel color. He steps forward, and he was already close.
